This course is based on the work of Barrie Bennett at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. The content of this work extends from the work of educators in Canada and Australia who are involved in systemic change projects focused on creating more powerful learning environments. Two books are used as the ‘back drop’ for this course. The first book is Beyond Monet: The Artful Science of Instructional Innovation by Barrie Bennett and Carol Rolheiser. The second is Graphic Intelligence by Barrie Bennett.
In addition, articles by teachers, action research studies, graduate student research etc., will also form part of this course. You will be able to access articles, research articles, almost the complete text of Beyond Monet and some of the text from Graphic Intelligence. In addition, you will be able to access examples of teacher lessons, samples of student work, teacher reflections, teacher instructional rubrics, video clips, and power point presentations.
