Materials needed:
- Computer with internet access
- Paper
- Pen or pencil
Activities: Talk with your child about what he/she already knows about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington. Use the information to make a graphic organizer that shows the facts about each. Explain compare and contrast the two men using facts that your child already knows. Orally give examples.
Ask your child to read the facts from the website about both men. Then using complete sentences write compare and contrast sentences about them.
Answers may
include:
President Washington's father died when he was a boy. President Lincoln's mother died when he was a boy. President Washington grew up in a British Colony. Lincoln grew up in the states of Kentucky and Illinois.
George Washington was a soldier. Abraham Lincoln was not a soldier. Washington was the first president of our country. Lincoln was the sixteenth president of our country. Lincoln was from a poor family. Washington was from a wealthy family.
