HOW TO TAKE ADMISSION IN DELHI UNIVERSITY FOR AN UNDERGRADUATE COURSE?
  • There is a lot of problem that a newcomer faces while getting admitted into Delhi University as making a choice between the right college and course is so hard that it whacks the brain out.

  • Taking the desired pick is just what you want.

  • You are just out of school and you see so much happening around you makes you crazy. Don't go crazy but take a look at this bunch of info that may help you.
Firstly, you have to short list the preference of your college which may fall in your expected percentage by getting hold of the last year's cut off list. This list will help you get an idea about the colleges where you can apply and get admitted. Now, there are centralized forms, available in the main Delhi University where you can in one go fill in for most of the colleges but to be on a safer side, you can also fill in separately for the colleges where you want the most to get in. Buy their prospectus and fill the form going directly to your desired college. Any prospectus would cost between Rs 100 to 200. After filling the forms, keep the receipts of the forms safely as you need to show them at the time of admission after your result is out.

All you have to wait is for your percentage in class 12 to get in the college league.

Now, when the results are out, you have to see that where have you made in. Apply to the college of your choice by presenting that receipt or you can wait for the second list. This is for the general category.
For people who want to get in through sports quota or extra-curricular activities the scene is a little bit different and difficult. It is a government institution, keeping that in mind you must be prepared for the kind of turmoil that you are going to go through. While filling the forms of the colleges separately as this facility is not in centralized forms, you must attach the photocopies of your sports or extra co accolades or certificates.
Then the dates will be announced where you have to come for the sports trail in the sports ground of the colleges where you have taken admission on the basis of your sport or extra co expertise. If you get selected, the cut off percentage will be reduced for you varying from 5 to 10 percent. For example, the general cut off list in Hindu college for English hons. is 80%, so if you pass the sports or extra co criteria then you can get in by having 70% or 75%. The colleges takes in some students on sports or extra curricular basis because the students who get selected represent the colleges in the competitions of the concerned area be it dramatics, choreography, basketball, table tennis or music society.
This not where the process ends as if are selected in some special category then you have to take part in the zone of your mastery. If you have a passion for acting, join the music society of the college and go to the rehearsals regularly. Same goes for sports people that they have to practice regularly in the morning or after college and missing classes for it is just indispensable.
A lot of classes have to be missed if you have any competitions in the near future. So, the deal the colleges give is really fair. You can apply in either of the categories depending upon your score. To warn you, filling in DU can really be fun but sometimes it might takes toll on your nerves but be patient and go with the flow.
