Academic
and General Requirements:
Age
requirement: Each applicant must be at least 17 years old
on the first day of classes.
English Language Proficiency: Applicants from
countries where English is not the primary language spoken and
applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate
English language proficiency by providing TOEFL scores:
TOEFL 500. Evidence of
having scored at least 500 on the paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), 173 on
the computer-based TOEFL, or a minimum of
61 on the Internet-based TOEFL.
If you have not yet taken the TOEFL or
have not received the minimum TOEFL score
required by the University, please contact your international
admissions advisor request information today for alternative proof
of English evidence.
Academic Requirements: High School/Secondary
School Documentation. You must submit a certified copy of the
primary documents used in your country that demonstrates completion
of secondary studies. This may include:
- Transcripts that show all courses taken, grades
received and completion/graduation date
- A certificate of national examination
results
A certified copy is an original document or attested (signed with
an official stamp or seal) photocopy that has been issued by the
educational institution or government agency responsible for
issuing the document. An official English translation must
accompany the document.
If you have not yet completed the last year of secondary school,
you may still apply. Submit an official transcript showing the
courses you have completed, and a letter in English from your
school stating your current student status and expected date of
high school/secondary school completion. You will be required to
provide proof of completion.
Testing Information: If you have completed any of
the following tests, submit them to your international admissions
advisor and DeVry will evaluate them.
- Undergraduate: ACT, SAT and/or
CXE
- Graduate: GRE or GMAT
Financial Obligation: If you are applying for an
F-1 Student Visa you will need to provide a notarized statement of
financial support or a certified government sponsor letter
indicating that tuition will be paid in advance of each term and
that a sponsor will provide all necessary living expenses for you.
US Federal law requires international students studying on an F-1
Visa to enroll full time while studying within the United States.
In order for DeVry to issue an I-20, you much show that you have at
least $26,000 USD per academic year
available in a moveable account.
Visa and Immigration Requirements:
U.S. Immigration and the
Department of Homeland Security require certain financial and
academic documentation prior to considering admission of
international applicants, including the following:
- Certified copies of high school or college
transcripts or the equivalent, documenting the required
level of prior education. Foreign diplomas and supporting
transcripts not written in English must be translated into English
by a certified translator and will require evaluation by a
qualified official or an approved educational credentials
evaluation agency. For detailed information, please contact your
admissions advisor or request information today.
- For students wishing to secure a sponsor in
order to assist with their educational costs, DeVry will provide
the student with an "Explanation of Cost" letter. Please contact
your admissions advisor or request information today.
After the above information is received, the applicant's acceptance
status is determined. When the above documents are in order, the
following must be presented to an immigration officer:
- Valid I-20 (obtain from DeVry University)
- Valid passport from the American Embassy or Consulate
- Letter of acceptance from DeVry
- Original proof of financial support (e.g., bank statement or
items that may be required by immigration).
Applicants should check with their American embassy and/or
consulate for other pertinent requirements.
Important Time-lines:
When should I
apply?
Once you have verified that you meet all the international student
admission requirements, you may begin the admissions process. If
you are applying to one of DeVry's degree programs prior to
completing the minimum educational level for that program, you will
be required to submit additional documentation upon graduation.
- Undergraduate Degree: submit a high school or
secondary school, transcript upon graduation
- Graduate Degree: submit official university
transcript/mark sheets upon completion of your 4-year baccalaureate
degree.
How long does the
application process take?
DeVry prides itself in processing all international applicants in
an efficient manner. To increase your likelihood of reaching the
time frame outlined below, please submit all required documents to
your international admissions advisor in a timely
fashion.

When will I know I am
accepted?
Once your application has been processed and all necessary
documentation has been received and approved, you will receive the
following:
- Pre-Arrival Guide
- Consulate Interview Packet
It is very important that your application and admissions
requirements be complete and accurate when they are submitted to
DeVry. An incomplete file will delay processing your application
and will likely result in the postponement of your class
start.
