Stephen Hawking- Hawking is one of today's most famous physicists. His works in quantum gravity and cosmology granted him a name of a true genius. He's also remarkable for bridging the gap between his sophisticated theories and everyday science, with his popular book A Brief History of Time, and appearances on TV shows like the Simpsons. And guess what? He first studied physics in the UK.

His works now have the status of great classics, and have been adapted into blockbuster movies. There's no doubt he's a great man, and studying at the UK got him started on his way.

Brian May- May is the famous guitar player from the band Queen, but (believe it or not), he is also a renowned physicist. He got a BSc in both Math and Physics from the Imperial College, London. He's now Chancellor of Liverpool John Moores University, but he's probably more well known for writing great songs like "We Will Rock You". His UK studies allowed him to both become famous and do what he loves.

Sir Ronald Cohen- Known as the "father of British Venture Capitalism", this rich guy studied at Oxford. He made lots of money by founding the UK's very first venture capital firm. Cohen was knighted by the Queen, and he's a successful businessman. He gave back to society in many ways- for example, he led the Social Investment Task Force, a new initiative with a remit to explore ways to create a system of sustainable investment in economically deprived areas in the UK.

Charles Rolls- If you like cars, you'll know the name Rolls-Royce, and you'll know that Charles Royce was the co-founder of the famous auto manufacturer back in 1906. He was also a pioneer aviator, and tragically the first briton to die in an air crash. But his cars are sweet!

Charles Darwin- The father of evolution, Darwin studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh in the UK. He later joined the journey of the Beagle, and the specimen he collected eventually led to the hypothesis of natural selection and evolution. His book, On the Origin of Species, is considered a landmark. Darwin is widely regarded as one of the most influential people in modern science and biology, and it all started at a UK university.

Hugh Laurie- An extremely popular actor, Hugh Laurie studied at Selwyn College, Cambridge. There he met Stephen Fry and started his actor career as part of the comic due "Fry and Laurie". And if it wasn't for his studies in the UK, he would never have become so famous.

Sir James Stirling- A world-renowned architect, Stirling studied architecture at the University of Liverpool in England. He is among the most important and influential architects of the second half of the 20th century. He designed high-profile buildings such as the History Faculty Library at the University of Cambridge and the Neue Staatsgalerie in Stuttgart. The Stirling Prize, a British annual prize for architecture was named after him. His UK studies made him a great success!
