Introduction This college is the most historical college of Delhi. It shares a very enduring past with the composite culture of Delhi for more then three hundred years. Zakir Hussain College(morning) is cradled in the heart of the new city located at the brink of old nostalgic past and tradition of the old walled city, now known as Old Delhi. Going back to its history the college was the first Oriental college of the 17th century city of Moguls. It was started by the commander in chief of Deccan Ghaziudin Khan, during the reign of Emperor Aurangzeb. The college very gracefully survived the plunders of mutiny of 1857 in British ruled India. In 1824 the British East India took over the reign of the institution and named it the Delhi College which was responsible for the advent of the famous 'Delhi Renaissance'. |

| The college also provides lodging and accommodation to students out side Delhi, it offers facility of boys hostel as well. They have kept in mind new channels for learning for students like Audio/Visual Room, a well organized Seminar room and Tissue culture Lag for the science students. They have build up a new college auditorium which was inaugurated by Dr. Kiran Bedi quite recently. The system of Faculty Mentor Scheme is on top of the student's priority list while seeking admission because it ensures a good student teacher relation till the time one is studying in college. This programme enables peers to be assigned to a specific teacher of their department in order to increase the quality of learning and making education an exhilarating experience. Here one teacher will be there to direct student in times of any problem.
