How to apply to Miranda House?
Application Information:
  1. Admission Criteria: Selection is on the basis of marks secured in the Senior Secondary High School Examination of the CBSE or an equivalent Board. As the number of seats is limited, eligibility does not guarantee admission.
    A limited number of seats are available on the basis of merit in sports and extracurricular activities as determined by a selection process carried out on announced date
  2. Application Procedure

  1. The college accepts only the Centralized Pre-admission Form of the University of Delhi (for regular courses)
  2. For admission on the basis of Excellence in Sports and Extracurricular Activities, candidates are encouraged to procure the Prospectus to obtain an overview of the college and details of the selection criteria which would form the basis of admission.
  3. After the cut-off lists are announced, the candidates selected for admission to the college are required to fill the Miranda House Admission Form attached to the Prospectus before they can be admitted to the college. This form is available along with the Prospectus at the time of admission at the college counter

Eligibility
  1. Age Requirement: As per University rules.
  2. Candidates who want to reappear to improve their marks in order to satisfy the minimum eligibility criteria are not considered for admission
Reserved Category
  1. 15% of the total seats are reserved for scheduled class and 7.5 % of the total seats are reserved for scheduled tribes.
  2. 5% of the total seats are reserved for children/ widows/ wives of personnel of the Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces killed or disabled in action or while on duty.
  3. 3% of the total seats are reserved for physically challenged students
Admissions in the reserved category are through the Office of Dean of Student Welfare. Reservation for OBC Category is in accordance with University directive.

Procedure for Admission:
Admission Form
All selected candidates are required to fill the College Admission Form attached to the Prospectus. Candidates who have applied using the Centralized Pre-admission Form or the College Online Admission Form are additionally required to procure the Prospectus and fill the Green Admission Form attached to it.
Submission of Original Certificates
All candidates, at the time of admission to the college, are required to submit the following certificates in original:
  1. Mark Sheet giving details of marks secured in the qualifying Class XII Examination
  2. Character Certificate issued by the Head of the school/college last attended
  3. Date of Birth Certificate, preferably the Class X certificate issued by the Examination Board.
  4. Certificate of having passed Hindi in those cases where the student has studied Hindi up to class VIIITwo recent passport sized photographs and one stamp sized photograph for the identity card, all unattested
  5. One set of self-attested copies of all the above certificates
Candidates who are unable to produce any of the above mentioned certificates either because their university/ board has not issued the same till the last date of admission or because of any other reason are given provisional admission till 16 August 2008. If the candidate is unable to submit the requisite documents by the required date, her admission automatically stands cancelled.

SC/ ST Category candidates are admitted through the Office of the Dean of Students Welfare, University of Delhi. They are required to submit an attested copy of the SC/ ST certificate issued by anyone of the following competent authorities:
  1. District Magistrate/ Additional District Magistrate/ Deputy Commissioner/ Deputy Collector/ 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate/ City Magistrate (not below the rank of 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate)/ Sub Divisional Magistrate/ Taluka Magistrate/ Executive Magistrate/ Extra- assistant Commissioner.
  2. Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate/ Presidency Magistrate
  3. Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar
  4. Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate or her family normally resides
  5. Administrator/ Secretary to Administrator/ Development Officer (Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands).
The certificates should be in the name of the student and not in the name of the parent.
Widows/ Wives/ Children of the Personnel of the Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces killed or disabled in action during the wars, 1947 onwards, or of those who have passed away while on duty, must submit a certificate to that effect from any of the following:
  1. Secretary, Kendriya Sainik Board, Delhi
  2. Secretary, Rajya/ Zila Sainik Board
  3. Officer-in-Charge Record Office
  4. First Class Stipendiary Magistrate
Foreign Students are admitted through the Office of the Foreign Students Advisor, in accordance with the University of Delhi procedures.
(i)In accordance with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India directive, all foreign students are required to undergo a medical examination within a month of their admission. Initially, they will be admitted provisionally. Their admission will be confirmed only on production of valid medical fitness certificates.
  • The 1st, 2nd nd 3rd lists come out around the last week of may every year and the admission process begins in the 1st week of June.
