Problem Solving

A boy is undertaken for a contract of 20 days. For each day he is present he will be paid 5$ and for each day he is absent he is fined 1.5$. Finally after 20 days if he was paid 80.5$, for what percent of the contract days was he absent?

A. 20%

B. 35%

C. 15%

D. 10%

E. 25%

So,folks here are the correct answers

Analogy Question
The correct answer is A. A. To be lugubrious is to be doleful; both terms refer to sorrow and mourning. Similarly, to be banal is to be insipid; both terms refer to the commonplace or trite.
Problem Solving
The correct answer is C.
This can be answered by supposing that the boy is absent for x days and framing a linear equation.
Let me give a different solution here.
If the boy is present for all the 20 days he will be paid 100 $. If he is absent for 1 day, from these 100 $, 6.50 $ will be deducted. Since 19.50 $ is deducted, he is absent for 3 days. The required percentage is 15%

    ANALOGY ANSWER: A EXPLANATION: As LUGUBRIOUS & DOLEFUL, both mean sad similarly, banal and insipid both mean stale

    PROBLEM SOLVED: C EXPLANATION: Let y be the no of days he was absent, then 5(20-y) -1.5y= 80.5 which gives us y as 3 hence, percentage is (3/20)*100= 15%
