Introduction
The Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC), Delhi was founded in the year 1926 by Sir Shri Ram. It is one of the first Commerce and Economics institutes of India. It is located in the North Campus of the University of Delhi. It mainly offers undergraduate as well as post- graduate courses in Commerce and Economics.
The Shri Ram College of Commerce is affiliated to the University of Delhi.
A Brief History (of how the college came into being)
  • Initially known as Commercial College, it was later rechristened as Shri Ram College of Commerce after its affiliation to the University of Delhi in 1926.
  • Classes started with 12 students and four faculty members from a hired bungalow at 8, Darya Ganj, New Delhi
  • In 1932, the College was upgraded to the status of a Degree College and started awarding its graduates the B.A. (Pass) (Commerce Group) Degrees of the University. The B.A. (Honours) Economics was introduced in 1958.
  • In 1951, on its Silver Jubilee, the College decided to convert itself into a College specializing in Commerce and Economics, and also gave itself the present name in recognition of the contribution made by its founder - Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC).
  • SRCC shifted to its new building in the sprawling Delhi University Campus in 1954. The new building was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, Hon'ble Vice President of India, on January 31, 1954.

    Class Rooms and Tutorials
  • Each class-room is being equipped with LCD projector
  • Class-rooms are also being refurnished and AC facilities are being provided in each room.

  • Library
  • Spacious with seating capacity for about 300 readers.
  • Well-stocked and presently has a collection of over 65 thousand volumes on different subjects.
  • Fully automated and provides user services through computer.
  • First library in the University of Delhi having Wi Fi facility.
  • The Library opens for eight hours from 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. However, during third term it opens from 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m. for student's convenience.

  • Computer Centres
  • The College has two well-equipped Computer Centers.Both the centers are provided with 40 computers, each with updated software and hardware.
  • Internet facilities provided in each computer. Printing and scanning facilities are also available with each computer through network.

  • Sports
  • The College has extensive playing grounds, a swimming pool, tennis court, gymnasium, indoor badminton court, basketball court, lawn tennis court, etc.
  • Every year the College holds Sports Carnival, Inter-class matches and Sports Day.
  • Coaching facilities to the players for different games for proper training and grooming.

  • Swimming Pool
  • The only college in the North Campus having swimming pool facility.
  • The swimming pool opens during summer season only.
  • Properly maintained and coaching facilities are also provided to newcomers

  • Hostel
  • The college has two separate hostels for boys and girls on the campus itself.
  • There is a big mess and common room in both the hostels.

  • Seminar Room
  • Constructed on the occasion of the College's Platinum Jubilee in 2000-2001
  • Fully air-conditioned with LCD projection facilities.

  • Auditorium
  • The College has a big auditorium with over 750 persons seating capacity.
  • Equipped with lighting and sound systems.

  • Student Activities

    Students' Union
  • The Students' Union functions under the guidance of the Faculty Advisor.
  • It has elected and nominated office bearers.
  • Students' societies

    The college has nine Students' Societies.

    Commerce Society
  • To develop an interest in the study of Commerce and Economics.
  • It arranges talks, lectures, group discussions, essay competitions, seminars, conferences, and the like, relating to the two disciplines.

  • Economics Society
  • To develop in them interest in the study of Economics
  • It arranges tables, lectures, group discussions, essay competitions, seminars, symposia, conferences and the like relating to the discipline

  • Hindi Sahitya Sabha
  • It organizes in Hindi, Poetry Essay, Short-Story, and General Knowledge Competitions, Elocution and Declamation Contests, Talks, Lectures, Kavi Sammelans, Conferences, Symposia, Seminars and the like.

  • English Literary Society
  • It organises in English, Poetry Essay, Short-Story, and General Knowledge Competitions, Elocution and Declamation Contests, Poetic Symposia, Talks, Lectures, Conferences, Symposia, Seminars and the like

  • Fine Arts Society
  • Aims to create interest in and develop taste and aptitude for Music, Dancing, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and any other Fine Art.
  • It organises Talks, Lectures, Exhibitions, Performances, Collage, Sketching, Painting and Music Competitions, and the like.

  • History and Political Science Society
  • To develop interest in the knowledge and study of History and Political Science, and national and international politics.
  • It organizes Talks, Lectures, Essay Competitions, Group Discussions, Seminars, Conferences, and the like.

  • Dramatic Society
  • To create interest in and encourage talent for Drama and Theatre.
  • It organises full-length and One-act Plays, Mono-acting performances, Competitions, Talks, Lectures, Symposia, Conferences and the like relating to its field

  • Debating Society
  • To stimulate the interest of the students in and to develop their skill for debating and public speaking
  • For this purpose, the Society organises Talks, Lectures, Debates, Debating Classes, Seminars, Conferences and the like

  • Computer & Mathematics Society
  • To develop in them interest in computers and learning of Mathematics and use of both problem solving in Commerce & Economics
  • For this purpose the Society organises Talks, Lectures, Seminars, Symposia, Conferences, Computer Games, Quiz Competitions, Intelligence Tests, and the like

  • National Service Scheme (NSS)
  • The NSS unit of the College provides a platform to the students and faculty for community work.
  • The NSS wing organizes activities like, Blood Donation Camps, Literacy Classes for children of weaker sections, Leadership workshops, Summer Camps, National awareness programmes, "Shramdaan" etc

Annual College Festival: Crossroads
The Students' Union and Students' Societies every year organizes a grand winter festival - "CROSSROADS". It is undoubtedly one of the most popular students' festivals in the University. Spread over a few days in December, an overwhelming participation across the students' fraternity of the University is seen in the CROSSROADS.Fashion Show, Choreography, Rock Show, Pop Night, War of the DJs are some prominent functions organized by the Students' Union. Winning teams and participants are given fabulous prizes.
The 2008 edition of Crossroads was as rocking as ever with a crowd pulling performance by the singing sensation KK in addition to a fashion show, Western dance competition and war of the DJ's
At the same time, the other Students' Societies also organizes their individual functions and events during the CROSSROADS
