Unmasking by copying

On April 29, 2006, American comedian Stephen Colbert appeared as the featured entertainer at the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

There - in front of 2500 guests, described by the Associated Press as a "Who's Who of power and celebrity", comedian Stephen Colbert played the role of the character that he played on his television show, The Colbert Report.

He satirically praised the foreign policy, lifestyle, and beliefs of George W. Bush and referred to his declining popular reputation according to actual polls. In praising Bush he portrayed him as anti-intellectual, as a guy who detested the facts, who decided 'out of his guts'.

Oh truthiness, I can’t believe that actually made it into the dictionary.

Interesting…I wonder what Bush thought of this roast. By the look on his face he didn’t look overly amused!

I liked all the metaphors he used! Even if the “rearranged the deckchairs on the titanic” one was awful, as he said!
