Do's & Don'ts for Visa Interview
A visa application might be refused for several reasons:
- You have not shown proof that you have enough money to support yourself while studying in Canada.
- You have not satisfied the visa officer that your purpose in Canada is to study.
- You have not passed the medical examination, if one was required.
- You have not satisfied the visa officer that you will leave Canada after completing your study.
How to increase your chances of getting a visa!!
- Give a convincing reason why you want to go abroad and study at the particular university.
- The better the ranking of the school that you finally choose, the higher your chances of getting a visa.
- Maintain a good score in SAT, GRE etc.

- You should be able to account for all the investments that have been declared as part of the financial proof.
- Make sure that you submit all the required documents. If any of the document is missing your application may be refused or rejected.
Do's
- Gather information regarding your university and the research areas of the department of your university.
- You should have a good idea about what you want from the education in Canada.
- Be truthful and confident while answering to the interviewing officer.
- You should be able to convince the officer that you really want to study in the Canadian university and will return back to the home country after completing your education.
- You should have a proof that you have got sufficient money (property, bank balance) in your home country to bear the cost of Canadian education.
- Maintain an eye contact with the visa officer while answering the questions.
Dont's
- Organize all your documents in order. Don't fumble when asked for documents.
- Do not try to cheat the visa officer. You should give them accurate information corresponding to your visa file.
- Don't get nervous, you might skip important information if you are nervous.
- Do not dress shabbily. You should try to wear formal or semi-formal clothes for Visa interview.
- Do not provide unambiguous pragmatic evidence pointing to reasons for return.
- Do not get late for the Visa Interview. You should always reach on time to the Visa office and avoid any sort of delay.
