
International Students need to meticulously plan out their application process to avoid missing any admissions deadlines for each university they apply to. Created below is a timeline map that will help you stematically plan for your admission, for the purposes of this examples we have picked a Fall 2009 start date:
July-Sep 08: Start preparing for the GRE and TOEFL tests. Plan for the test date and get yourself registered for the test sometime in October.
October 08: Practice full length mock tests. Take the GRE and TOEFL Test.
Nov 08-Jan 09: Create a shortlist of potential universities based on your test scores and send your prepared documents to each university you wish to apply to.
Wait for the results from the universities.........
May 09-June09: Once you have your acceptance letter, start preparing for the Visa application - make sure you have all your forms! Now is also the time start applying for Financial Aid.
June-July 09: Time for you US Visa internview - good luck! Gather information of the climate and culture of the place you are going to.
August 09: Try to arrive a bit before classes start to give yourself time to adjust to your new home. Check with the school (and your visa) to see how early you can arrive.
September 09: Courses Begin.
