Fine Play up Front

The need to have solid strikers in this league cannot be overlooked. All the good clubs have more than one solid player up front and that makes the difference. Some of these clubs bank on three strikers that can all play just to have an insurance blanket. As we have learned throughout many important tournaments, no stellar strikers mean a lack of goals. The need to have fine players up front will make the overall difference and one can observe this from the first game to the last.

Liverpool's Fernando Torres made all the difference in the world for his club. Liverpool would have finished way back had in not been for Torres and his goal scoring ability. He is a superb striker and his talent was obvious to all who watched. The club wasn't satisfied with the depth at the position. They picked up Robbie Keane, who will compete with Dirk Kuyt and Andriy Voronin for playing time. All four can play well and that is good luxury to have for any club.

Some people overemphasize the importance of defensive player, judging from the success of fortress teams like Italy. The truth is though, you can defend all you want, but if you don’t score you can’t win. That’s why strikers are probably the most important players on the field at most times, and if you don’t have good ones you can give up right now. Games with teams that place only 1 striker up front and play heavy defense are also very boring to watch.

I would have to agree, you can defend like hell all you want but as soon as you allow one goal, you are in trouble. Many clubs who are sound on the back end, but fail in the front end pay a dearly cost when they get behind. The great teams are the ones that attack and bring the game to the opposition. There is a reason that the best clubs in England for example have a ton of world class strikers at their disposal.

As one can see, Manchester United are not happy with their strikers because they are after Berbatov. Despite having Rooney, Tevez, and others, the club wants to secure the spot. The need to have 3-4 excellent strikers is crucial in this business

I think with berbatov in the manchester utd team is not playing it’s players to their strengths and i think tevez is being sacrificed in playing time due to berbatov which is ofcourse resulting in poor results throughout.

Well stated, Tevez often seems lost because he is never sure when he will play. United are most dangerous when Tevez, Rooney and Ronaldo stay up front
