International Admission Requirements at Missouri S&T

Admission Requirements at Missouri S&T

Admission, especially internationally may seem like a daunting task, but follow these instructions, be sure to include all of the important documents in your application and you should be fine. The international admission requirements take the general undergraduate requirement as well as a few extra components such as language testing. International students are very welcome at Missouri S & T and admission is one of the first steps to a milestone in one's academic career! So, why not study at Missouri S & T?

Apply Early!

If you're planning to attend Missouri S&T in the fall, it's a good idea to submit your application before the December 1 Priority Application Deadline to ensure that you're on the best track for all scholarship, housing, and registration opportunities.

Admission to Missouri S&T is selective. Applications are evaluated based on students' academic record and test scores. A personal statement may be submitted but is not required. Missouri S&T appreciates well-rounded students and evaluates each application individually.

High School Course Work

You'll need to have completed a minimum of 17 high school units (year-long classes) in the following areas:

  • English: 4 units (1 unit may be speech or debate; 2 units emphasizing composition or writing skills are required) English 9, 10, 11, 12; English Literature; Speech; Debate; Journalism; etc.
  • Mathematics: 4 units (Algebra I or higher) Algebra I, Algebra II/Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Calculus, Math Analysis, etc.
  • Social Studies: 3 units World History, American History, American Government, Principles of Democracy, etc.
  • Science: 3 units (Cannot include General Science; 1 unit must be a laboratory course) Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics, etc.
  • Fine Arts: 1 unit Visual Arts, Music, Theater, etc.
  • Single Foreign Language: 2 units

Academic Achievement and Standardized Test Scores!

Take the ACT or SAT I in the spring of your junior year and fall of your senior semester. Missouri S&T considers your highest composite score (or the combined Math and Critical Reading score from the SAT I) for admission and scholarship qualification. The writing sections of the ACT or the SAT will not affect your admission.

To qualify for admission, the combination of your high school rank and test score must meet or exceed the values in the table below. We accept class rank and test score data from your sixth, seventh or eighth semester of high school. If you attend a high school which does not rank its students, your admission will not be negatively affected: students from non-ranking high schools and home-schooled students are admitted based on academic achievement and ACT or SAT scores.

If your ACT composite score is 24 or higher, or the total of your SAT critical reading and math scores is 1090 or higher, and you have completed the required curriculum, then you meet the requirements for admission to Missouri S&T.

If your ACT composite score is 17 to 23, or the total of your SAT critical reading and math scores is 800 to 1080, then you must meet the high school class rank in the table below to be admitted to Missouri S&T.

Financial Support Statement

International students must provide documentation of financial support that covers the cost of one academic year. See Applying Step-by-Step for more information.
