Idea # 25: Service Comparison Sites

I'm sure you have heard about comparison sites. Well, they act like price agencies in which various products are compared with each other in terms of price, etc.

I wonder why nobody (or at least I'm not aware of it) has ever thought of creating something similar for services, such as hairdressers, dentists, beauticians, etc. Well, it might take a lot of effort to keep record of all the different services, prices etc. in various locations. But don't you think it would be great if there would also be comparison sites for that?

Let's say I'm moving home and would need to know a good dentist in my new, local area. I might not know anyone, therefore relying on recommendations might be difficult. How great it would be if also in the internet you could find out what prices various service companies offer…..

Share your thoughts!

Thanks.

There are several sites that let you review service providers. When I lived in San Francisco I used Yelp religiously. I picked my dentist, my doctor, my hair dresser on Yelp.

Comparison shopping for services can be a little tricky though since not all services are equal like say a product is. You can compare the price of a 47 inch Sony TV very easily. Not so easy for say a pedicure. Is the pedicure an hour? 30 minutes? Does it include a massage? Exfoliation? A few too many permutations to make comparison easy.

i guess you can always find sites that give reviews on services; be it restaurants or parlors or malls

one trouble though is that reviews are subjective – they vary from person to person and therefore sometimes, there is limited point in reading them
