Behind the Veil

I cannot believe that the anti-immigration backlash has now crossed over and is identifying with White Supremacy. John Tanton’s issues on population and the environment are merely a mask in which he can behind his racial discrimination. He and his nativist group have managed to keep their bigotry below the political radar. It is tragic that our attempt at rectifying the immigration issue is being foiled by organizations such as Tanton’s. We take one step forward and two steps back never really accomplishing what we want. When it comes to non U.S. citizens there will always be racism but I feel that FAIR’s attempts to put a halt to immigrants will eventually backfire on them. As we studied in Chapter 5, before racial conflict towards immigration, most undocumented aliens wanted to work and return home. After all the negative sentiment directed at them, statistics showed that more immigrants were now seeking naturalization and visas to stay here in the U.S. This is just a simple case of intimidation by Tanton and his groups to bully immigrants back to their native homeland.
