English as a Foreign Language plus Vocational Courses are designed togive you an introduction to a specialist subject, and at the same time allow study of English as a Foreign Language.

Here are the English Plus courses we offer at Waltham Forest College:

EFL plus Travel and Tourism
Length
September - June

Programme of Study
  • EFL
  • Virgin Atlantic Fares and Ticketing level 1 and 2. These courses include Geography, ABC World, Airway Guide, Basic Fares and Ticketing, Mileage System
  • Galileo first class. A computer based learning package, which includes timetables, availability, reservations, cancellation, hotel reservations and car hire.

Examination/Assessment
  • Virgin Atlantic and Ticketing Level 1 and 2
  • Galileo First Class
  • EFL Examinations


EFL plus Hotel Management
Enrolments in September, January and April

Programme of study
  • EFL
  • Hotel Management - various subjects related to the hotel industry.

Examination/Assessment
Assignments and course work throughout the year. At the end of the first year, students will have the opportunity of joining the second year of a BTEC National Diploma in Hotel Management. EFL examinations.


EFL plus Catering
Enrolments in September, January and April.

Programme of study
  • EFL
  • Catering
  • Food and Beverage Service
  • Food Preparation Level 1, Pastry Level 1
  • Larder Level 1, Food and Beverage Level 1
  • Health and Safety

Examination/Assessment
At the end of the year students who wish to join the second year of this course will be able to spend four months during the summer working in one of London's hotels. EFL examinations.


EFL plus Visual Arts / EFL plus Fashion
Enrolments in September, January and April.

Programme of study

  • EFL
  • Fashion - a choice from Clothing Production, Pattern Cutting, Fashion Design
  • Visual Arts - a choice from Painting, Drawing, Printmaking

Examination/Assessment

On successful completion of the first year, students MAY have the opportunity of joining a BTEC National Diploma in Fashion/Art Foundation. EFL examinations.


EFL plus Hairdressing
Enrolments in September, January and April.


Programme of study

  • EFL
  • Shampoo/Conditioning, Blow Drying, General Reception Duties, Health and Safety, Basic Cutting Skills

Examination/Assessment

EFL examinations.
