Financing
Your Education
Studying
overseas is a large financial commitment. In total, fees
for studying in the UK, the USA or
Australia are actually quite similar because of the
different lengths of study and costs of daily life.
It is important that you understand the costs of being a student
and that you try to prepare as much as possible.
In this section, you will find all you need to know about your
tuition fees and the cost of living.
Scholarships are extremely competitive but can help you with
tuition fee costs and when you are here, regulations permit you to
work for 20 hours per week in a part-time job.
Each year the
University of Stirling sets the level of tuition fees for
non-European Union (non-EU) undergraduate students and postgraduate
students. These fees usually increase each year in line with
inflation. A full outline of tuition fees can be found by visiting
our undergraduate and postgraduate web pages.
Overseas
Students (Non-EU)
If
you are a student currently resident outside the UK and EU, you
will be required to pay tuition fees for each year of your course.
For students who are not eligible for support from UK public funds,
tuition fees vary according to the degree programme being taken.
There is also a different level of fees for both undergraduate and
postgraduate study and these are detailed in the links given
above.
International students should contact the relevant authority in
their home country to find out what financial support may be
available to assist with tuition fees and living costs.
Fees can be paid in full or in three installments. If paying by
installments, international students must pay 50 per cent on or
before enrollment followed by 25 per cent in November and the
remaining 25 per cent in February.
European
Union Students
If
you are classed as being ordinarily resident in Scotland or another
European Union (EU) country outside the UK, and are going to be
studying full-time, you will not be required to pay tuition fees.
As an undergraduate all tuition fees will be paid on your behalf by
the Scottish Government through the Student Awards Agency for
Scotland (SAAS). Students must apply for this funding on a yearly
basis.
