Hey, do you want to start a rock band the right way? Here is what you need.
~At least 3 people that have a talent with music
~a working guitar
~a drum set
~a bass guitar or a keyboard
~a mic
~and of course people that can play those instruments
~dont forget a place to practice

It was hardest for me to find a place to practice for my band.

It is always a good idea to have a band manager. A band manager normally does not play on stage, he/she is the one that gets the band to acually play on that stage. Personally, my band manager is my songwriter.

It is a good idea to start off with learning a cover song. Ya know, like a song that already exists. Normally there is already sheet music for those songs. This is a good start.

You might need a little bit of the ching ching though to get started. My band needs a drum set. I'm working on buying it. Some good ideas to make some quick cash. My idea was to start a fund raiser around my neighborhood. You probably could make like a good $100-$150. A yard sale is another good option. EBAY is the fastest way to earn money easily.

One more thing that might come in handy later on is getting your own podcast. I don't have one yet, but it is good to get your songs popular on Itunes. Podcasts are normally free so it's easy. Imagine it, the person that sits across from you at lunch is listening to your rockin' music.
