Don’t forget, he is a politician, being a snake is what they are best at. Just like being a weasel is what reporters are best at.
You couldn’t really expect Trudeau to react differently when the October Crisis hit. I’d place military around parliament as well!

I was a high school tudent in Ottawa, living near Rockliffe Park when this happened. I saw the soldiers on guard outside of John Diefenbaker’s house.
I remember reading in The Ottawa Journal about mail boxes being blown up. I remember Pierre Laporte, James Snow. Je me souviens.

This guy cracks me up… I am impressed a politician would stop and have this kind of conversation. Most would walk by quickly, possibly with a security detail and maybe mumble no comment. So… I have to admit that I had no idea who this guy was. I had to look him up on wikipedia… What is the FLQ? is it Canada’s answer to the Irish Republican Army (IRA)?

Trudeau was a revolutionary Prime Minister for Canada and it could use another one like him any day. Under the Trudeau Mania, it was the only time that politics in Canada was a “popular” thing that brought our house of commons into the everyday home. We as a nation have never had such pride in our leader or nation as demonstrated during his leadership.

I couldn’t get the video to work but I went and watched in on YouTube. It’s the first time I’ve seen it in a while.
While I happen to agree with Trudeau about the necessity to bring in the soldiers, I do think it’s very naive, flawed logic to state that the guy wants them to give in to the FLQ if he disagrees. It would have been a lot more logical to say “Do you believe this isn’t necessary in order to defend ourselves from the FLQ?”
His confidence is still pretty cool.
Even more so I love his defense of the fact that arrested terrorists aren’t political prisoners. A political prisoner is someone who is in jail for expressing or having political ideas, not someone in jail for doing something legitimately illegal in the name of their political ideas. If you advocate communism and the US government arrests you, you’re a political prisoner. If you advocate communism and organize a violent take-over in the name of your ideas, and are arrested, you’re not a political prisoner. The same goes for the FLQ.

Wait… violence? In Canada???
Oh, no, it’s the French, never mind. No, I’m totally joking. I remember learning about this a few years back in high school, I was surprised by the fact that terrorism actually reached this place. Seems so nice and quiet throughout history… then boom. And then later, nothing again.
Trudeau was a pretty great Canadian… but one thing stops him from being the best Canadian PM- he didn’t represent the Canadian spirit. He was flashy, and interesting, and a bit impolite. A real Canadian would have been more quiet and respectful. Then again, he is Trudeau, he doesn’t have to be quiet and respectful.

That is one of the many things that makes Trudeau so great.
Many people call the guy interviewing Trudeau a “weasel”. Haha.
