Lesson 1: Introduction, Certifications and Installation

We had our first live session last Monday and I think it was very productive. We covered the course introduction along industry certifications and an overview of Solaris installation. The first activity is to make your own Solaris/UNIX/Linux installation. This is a very important activity because we are going to use that installation as a reference for future lessons. Unfortunately we don't have the advantage of using Lab servers for the moment but let's do our best to work with the tools we have. An interesting discussion came after talking about Solaris hard-disk slices. I understand there was some confusion because we haven't formally introduced the topic, but be sure that we are going to talk about it (a lot).

Also, this is the first lesson published in learnhub.com. I hope this platform help us to better integrate each other's ideas and thus have a better learning experience.

Something I forgot to mention in the first lesson is that you may know that I have spend few years in teaching. It truly is something I enjoy a lot and I am so glad to have this opportunity to share this knowledge with you and most important, that you show your interest to the topic.

Well, I will leave you guys today with few extra-reading material that will help you to better solve some of the questions from the class.

Please don't forget to share your notes and ideas in the comments section of this site. Remember? SHARE.
