LearnHub suits up with a new look!

Wednesday, June 11, 2008

As I am sure you’ve already noticed, the LearnHub.com homepage got a serious face-lift. After some careful brainstorming, your feedback, and some very hard work from our talented developers, the new homepage is live and kicking. And doesn’t it look stunning.

LearnHub is a social learning platform that focuses on creating a dynamic experience for both student and instructor. By refurbishing the homepage we have created a virtual portal to the entire site. As well, it presents every member, new or old, with a feed of stimulating content.

Not only have we built upon and improved our current features, we’ve also added a host of new elements that you will no doubt find joy to use.

Just to list a few:

  • Poll of the Week
  • Community News
  • Notable This Week
  • Featured School
  • Quick-Start Trivia

Enjoy exploring the new homepage, everyone at LearnHub hopes you enjoy it. Feel free to give us your feedback in the below comments.

Beautiful and Clean code. Gratz on whomever marked up the front page. The front page is overwhelming but I think it requires some time to grow on me and familiarize myself with. I would suggest putting pull of the week about the Activity Feed.

I honestly skip whats on the front page and look at the activity right away.

I’m thinking not everything is updated because I I caught a funny:

I wonder what this person is the authority on?

The old Login Form was much or usable. The new one is insanely small. The fade when you click on Signup to the login form looks cheesy.

But quite a few things are a step in the right direction. Such as simp-flying the boxes by ditching the rounded corners and gradients.

Ah, some people do find the log in form small, but some find it juuuust right. I think it fits with the overall design of the new home page. I personally really like it.

The users name isn’t dirty at all, it’s someones last name. ;)

Its not usable. All the facts you need you can find in “form theory”“http://wufoo.com/blog/category/form-theory/ on wufoo’s blog

Recently Bascamp’s login page changed from having left aligned labels to moving them about the box. I haven’t been following their blog but I think it based off similar research for form usability that I’m talking about.

Basecamp

Skype

Yahoo

I train people on social networking and I have them signup on many communities and web-apps and the reoccurring problem that made entry into these communities are forms.

If there isn’t enough room bring them to a new page to login, instead cramming it in the corner.

Also there is already an awsome login page for Learnhub.

K, just suggesting check out those links. Doesn’t hurt to double check some form theory.

It be inhuman to able to design something perfect every time the first time.

Hey Andrew, I’m responsible for all the markup and design. I agree that the mini sign in form is complete ux sacrilege but a lot of people really seem to enjoy it. Perhaps we could do some a-b testing to see if our users like it as much as they think they do. Thanks for the feedback.
