Now it's time for change in admission process for all IITs, NITs
and IIITs of the country. Human Resource Minister Kapil Sibal said
that from 2013 there will be new selection criteria for giving
admission to students in these technical institutes of the country.
This new test will give weightage to Class XII results at the time of selection. Kapil Sibal
made this announcement in a combined meeting of IITs, NITs and
IIITs.
He further explained the new admission process and said for IITs
and other central institutes students will have to clear a
different selection procedure and have to complete all the steps
according to the new format. This new exam format will replace both
the prestigious entrance tests - IIT-JEE and AIEEE.

Now to get admission in these institutes students will have to
clear main test and advanced test. But for getting admission to all
centrally-funded institutes, 40% weightage will be given to Class
XII performance, 30% to performance in
main exam and 30% in advance test.

Besides, if you are planning to get admission IITs you have to
go through a different admission process according to which there
would be a filtering process involved. The board exam result and
main test will be given 50% weightage each. But only 50,000
students will be selected for final advance test after considering
their performance in the board exams and main exams.
Sibal said, "The merit only in advanced examination will be
considered for admission." While explaining the selection process
he said that those students who crossed the hurdle of 50% weightage
to board marks and good performance in the main exam will be
considered at the time of making merit list. The selection
procedure for IIT would differ from other
institutes. But counselling for IITs and other institutes will be
done jointly. He said, "I as a student will get a rank in
IIT and also get a rank for NIT and IIIT. I will give
my choice in both and depending on which is my first choice in
either, I will get a seat."

so sad 40% weightage shd nt be given on the basis of marks in 12th class exam becoz marks cant determine the ability&intiligence of the student i myslf dislyk it
Hi,
40% is much more weight , it should be around 10 %, not more then it.
Regards,
Sandeep.
To get admitted in Engg degree courses one has to pass class
XII exam. Sadly enough so far the score
of this qualifying class(XII)was
neglected(funny!!).
The proposed system to consider classXII exam marks(50%) is
definitely the most logical & will reward sincere, deserving
candidate
it can be said that it is good for only those students who have their high percentage in 12th or for those who are so intelligent so according to me it's overall good
for me i think it's a good idea , one who scores good marks in 12th class have awesome oppurtunity to get admission in nits , iiits

Dear sir
You are hereby served with the LEGAL
NOTICE:
1.-That you have conducted joint entrance exam for various Indian institute of technology situated in India for various undergraduate courses this year.i.e.2012.
2.-That their is reservation policy which says 27% quota is reserved of OBC sect and 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST.
3. -That this reservation is subject to definite relaxed criteria i.e. 10% relaxation in cut off marks to OBC and relaxation of 50% in cut off for ST \SC\PD.,with respect to general category
4.-That this year there is not much change in the number of seats from last year but you have allotted rank to around 24000 students .the step you have taken is to lower the standard of IIT beyond relaxed criteria limit in order to accommodate reserved class as is clear from the following facts:
5.-That though common merit list is prepared up till rank of 18466 but you have invited student only up till rank of 9723 from general category i.e. student securing 171 marks. 6.- That in such situation you were required to call OBC student up till 153 marks and ST\SC and PD students up to 85 marks for counseling , but you have overplayed first by needlessly lowering cut off to 141 marks for general category even you knew from previous years data that so much student would never be called for counseling and then by calling all the OBC students up till 127 marks and all the SC\ST and PD up till 72 marks for counseling undermining the rules of the relaxed criteria ratio .The whole exercise seems to lower the relaxed criteria itself from 10% to25% for OBC to fill OBC quota in violation of relaxed criteria rule to lower the standard of IIT's7.-That as per the guidelines and practice adopted so far only 1.4 times the number of seats in each category, students are called for counseling but this year 4805 OBC ,3464 SC and 1112 ST student were called for counseling which is more than permitted(1.4 times) .Further 171 (GEN) to 127(OBC) the relaxed criteria comes to 25% ,similarly for ST\SC\PD relaxation comes to about 59% which is utter violation of the reservation criteria .In case student up till 171 marks were called simultaneously only student up till 153 marks in OBC category and 72 marks in SC/ ST could be called to maintain the relaxed criteria subject to which seats can be filled.
8.- That cut off marks can be decided on the basis common merit
list marks or general category marks as it forms the basis of 10%
and 50% relaxed criteria but you have purposely extended this list
against the interest of general category student and to give undue
advantage to OBC student and to lower the
standard of IIT.
9.- That reservation policies in IIT were
implemented with a definite relaxed criteria keeping in view the
standard i.e. reservation without compromising with standard.
7.That now even if you have allotted rank to around 24000 student
you are required to call the students in the ratio of relaxed
criteria i.e. If students getting 171 marks in general category are
called for counseling then the student securing minimum 153 marks
in the OBC sect and the students securing
85 marks for the ST\SC\PD should be called for counseling .Giving
seats to students scoring below the respective marks will violate
the relaxed criteria and is illegal and objectionable and would
amount to lowering the standard .YOU are
not entitled to artificially lower the cut off for the general
category when there are more qualified student above that marks
,whole of your exercise seems to utilize full reservation quota on
the cost of lowering the standard .
You are therefore hereby called upon to immediately mend your
counseling procedure as per rules .If in spite of this legal notice
you fail to correct the default pointed above LEGAL action in the interest of general public will
be taken against your institution and you are responsible for all
cost and consequences .

Very well organized,I loved this break up because whoever would
score in 12t h standard would have to go through entrance and show
the real talent and still the result of 12th considered
somehow.
fake doctors note
i think it is not fair ,,the student who studied with state boards like me -up. Board ..will not have valuable weightage in 12 th pcm marks ….so,pls think abt this to provide equall weightage for the state board 12 th candidates and cbse or isc as well………..thanks…….for listening me……pls ….work on it…..

it's good for students who score excellent marks in 12th standard but very difficult to those students who scored low percentage in 12th exam but yaaarooooooon kehte hain na "JO HOTA HAI ACHE KE LIYE HOTA HAI"
The weightage must be much lower. It is not correct. Har koi
janta hai k 12th k result me kitna ghotala hota. Kisi achche
student ka marks isliye kharab ho jata hai k jis teacher k paas us
ka copy gaya uska us school k sath lafra hai. practicle k marks
school k teacher dete hai lekin kuch school k aise teacher hai
jinhe marks dene me achcha nahi lagta. Agar teacher ne galat
parhaya aur aap bol diye to aap ka marks katega. And many more
In other hand. Aap ko har kuch nahi lekin aap teacher ko paisa ya
party de dijiye to aap ka kaam bangya. Aap k achche marks aagye
aisi bahot sari cases hai jis k waja 12th ka percentage achcha ho
jata hai. Har saal kuch aise mil hi jate hai jo 12th me 80
percentor hai lekin state jee exam hi main jo kuch hi mahino k baad
hota hai us me 20 thousand, 30, 35 even 40 thousand bhi cross kar
jate hai. Think about this. how can it possible? 2 mahine me wo sab
kuch bhul gaye nahi, unhe itna jyada pata hi nahi tha to bhulenge
kya! Weightage of 12th must be elimineted. otherwise it will damage
the standard of competative exams. Har student ko 12th me sahi
marking nahi milta. Kisi ko usse kam milta jitna wo deserve karta
hai aur kisi ko jyada bcoz of channels relationship with any
teacher & having a lot of money. Think yyyyyyaaaaarrrr
