What is the LearnHub Study Abroad Scholarship?
This is a one time grant of 2000 USD for a student who applies to a university via LearnHub and is accepted at that university.
Why is it being offered?
To encourage and support bright students like you to study in the best colleges abroad!
Are any taxes applicable on the Scholarship?
Depending on where you study, and/or how you use the money, you might or might not have to pay taxes. Please make sure to check the existing taxation norms that you will have to comply with.
What is the deadline for applying?
September 1st 2010 is the deadline for the first round of scholarships.
Will this Scholarship be offered again?
Yes. This Scholarship will be offered again.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a LearnHub user. (Refer to the Terms and Conditions Document for more details on Eligibility)
How do I apply for the Scholarship?
  1. Go to your LearnHub profile page or to the Scholarships Page
  2. Click on the link prompting you to apply for the Scholarship
  3. In case you have any trouble – send an email to support@learnhub.com
What do I do after applying?
You have to fulfill a few conditions:
  1. You have to be an active LearnHubber, which means you will:
    • Complete your profile
    • Take part in discussions
    • Invite your friends to LearnHub
    • Attain an authority of a minimum of 200
    • Have fun LearnHubbing!
  2. You have to write an essay (250 words, minimum), on 1 of the following 4 topics.
    • Why I want to study abroad.
    • How does studying abroad support my future ambitions?
    • What do you think will be the biggest problems of studying abroad, and what solutions do you see to solve them.
    • Why should my dream university admit me?
  3. After writing your essay, email it to: scholarships@learnhub.com. The judges will grade the essays on conviction of purpose, creativity and vision.
  4. You have to answer 5 questions and send an email to feedback@learnhub.com:
    • How did you come to know about LearnHub?
    • What do you enjoy most on LearnHub?
    • What is most confusing on LearnHub?
    • What is most useful on LearnHub?
    • 5 suggestions to improve LearnHub, including
      1. Missing content
      2. Missing features
How will I know that my application has been accepted?
We will send you an email informing you of your acceptance
How will I know if I won the scholarship?
If you win the scholarship, you will get an email from us. The email will contain important details on the acceptance procedure. You can read more regarding this in the Terms and Conditions page.
Do I have to produce any documents/proofs to claim the scholarship amount?
  1. After completing the acceptance procedure for your college/university, you will send to us the following documentation
    • A copy of your acceptance documents
    • Details of your program and other related information
    • Your residence address at the college/university
  2. You have to submit the bank account details for your new bank account, one that is in your name only, at your college/university abroad. No other account will be considered. The amount will be transferred to your bank account by the end of your first semester of studies.
What if I am not able to furnish the proofs?
The scholarship will be withdrawn.
If I win the scholarship but don’t get through a college, do I still get the money?
No. However, you will be eligible to win a goody such as an iPod, etc. We will inform you how you can collect the same, once the results are out.
Who judges the scholarship entries?
Your entry will be assessed by a team of judges from LearnHub . All entries will be judged equitably and professionally.
