  1. From the unknown Mr.John used to purchase certain number of mangoes for 360 Rs. Since the price of mangoes is reduced by 10% he got 12 more mangoes today. Find the original price of 120 mangoes.

    Mon, 09 Nov 2009 18:04:22 -0000

    Let x be the no of mangoes purchased at 360; price for 1 mango will be 360/x

    reduction of 10% will make the price of 1 mango to 400/x i.e (360/90x)* 100

    400/x – 360/x = 12 => x = 10/3

    so the reduced price will be 90/100 * 10/3 = 3

    so the new price for 120 mangoes will be 120*3 = 360

  2. From the unknown Gold Council Chief: Despite the fact that all asset classes have suffered erosion in value, Gold has either remained stable or surged ahead. It only reinforces Gold’s appeal as a safe-haven. Therefore, investors looking to protect the value of their investments over the next five years must turn to Gold. Which of the following, if true, would most seriously weaken the conclusion of the Chief?

    I doubt on the validity of answer D as a correct answer since the government is going to sale out X ton of gold in next Y year, means supply would be constant and their will be no deficit so less chance of gold value to go down. In short its sparingly helping in making the gold price constant. Answer ‘B’ predicit the gold value to go down that actually in turn makes the conclusion weak.
