  2. From the trivia question GMAT Prep- Quantitative Section #205: I have 2 different wine bottles. If I want to drink one glass of wine every day, each bottle contains enough wine for 2 glasses, and I select one bottle of wine randomly each day, what is the probability that I finish one bottle completely before opening the second one?

    Thu, 09 Jul 2009 14:43:25 -0000

Probability of choosing one bottle in the beginning is 1/2 and so as the condition to be satisfied..i.e. one bottle has to be finsihed before openign the other one… we have got no other choice but to select the same bottle.. that can be done in only one way.1… so the answer would be 1/2*1 =1/2

The puppies, Golbie and Chance played in the part, they ran around the yard for quite some time and then, she got exhausted and laid down.

    good explanation ..thanks :)

  15. From the trivia question GMAT Prep- Quantitative Section #238: In company 1 there are A good employees and B bad ones, for a total of 48 employees. In company 2 there are B good employees and C bad ones for a total of 94 employees. In company 3 there are C good employees and A bad ones for a total of 70 employees. How many good employees are in company 2?

    Thu, 12 Mar 2009 22:13:08 -0000

another simple way would be : you have 3 equations: A+B=48, B+C=94 and C+A=70. adding up all the three equations : you arrive at 2(A+B+C)=212 => A+B+C =106 subtract C+A from this to get B, which is 106-70=36.

  16. From the trivia question GMAT- Quantitative Section Q#52: A group of 20 farmers grew a pig that weighed p pounds. After they took care of it, the pig's weight increased by 60%. They then divided the pig equally amongst themselves. How much did each one of the 20 pieces weigh?

    Wed, 04 Mar 2009 14:56:56 -0000

a better way wud b :take P=100 and check the options with the same…this would boil the thigns into numbers rather than equations..(100+60)/20 = 8….(2*100)/25 =8..hence the answer

  17. From the trivia question 38. GMAT - Verbal Section: Sentence Correction
Rephrase or choose the following best answer:
The plot of Christopher Bong's first story centers on the friendship between Patricia Kim, a vocal pacifist, with a high-ranking military Commander, Alexander Toynbee, when the two find themselves swept into an affair after having lost a mutual friend.

    Mon, 02 Mar 2009 14:47:22 -0000

between is generaly followed by a AND rather than a WITH…adn the tenses also matches : centers – develops…hence D

Nice explanation oLahav! Let me try the third one. ANSWER Total Possiblites of picking 2 out of 8 cards : 8c2 And Total possibilities of picking cards other than blue cards : 6c2 hence Answer would be : 6c2 / 8c2 = 15/28.

But im skeptic about this. Please correct me if im wrong.
