I came across a company in Germany who would do it for free. Website: www.tredition.de – I’m planning to publish my next book with them. It doesn’t cost anything but you will have to share your future profits. Maybe it could be of interest to you Nellie. The homepage is German but I’m sure they will be able to provide you with English information too.

Well, it gives an employer the chance to assess a person also in terms of personality, body language, behaviour, etc. which on paper you would never be able to express.

    Tue, 15 Jul 2008 18:51:30 -0000

I haven’t seen Jab we met yet and also not Om Shanti Om. From the latter I didn’t hear great reviews on it, therefore I was not so motivated to watch it. Well, in terms of your preferences we are here in a discussion forum and it’s good if different people have different tastes, otherwise it would become boring. So, why don’t you tell me the lessons learnt from JAB WE MET and OM SHANTI OM, maybe you get me to watch it soon …..

JAB WE MET is a love story. Totally different theme of presentation made it superhit. It’s not a typical boring bollywood love story. OM SHANTI OM was hit due to its starcast like SRK, Arjun Rampal & debutant Deepika Padukon. Its story is based on the concept of rebirth. There is a song which contains 32 bollywood actors & actresses. Though there is no such a lesson to be learnt from these movies, they have great lyrics which is also hit & entertain too. These are definitely more hit than Apne, Taxi no. 9211.

I got astonished after reading the lessons you have learnt from KANK & LAGE RAHO MUNNABHAI. I never thought that one can learn so many lessons. I think u will definitely learn some lessons from JAB WE MET & OM SHANTI OM, too.

I’ve seen Chak de India and I liked it as well, it would definitely be in my Top 20. I noticed that recently Bollywood approaches also movies with sports …. F1 with Ta Ra Rum Pum, Boxing with Apne and Female Hockey with Chak de India and I would say they are really not bad!!

Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I most have been in a rush in terms of the Mukherjee surname. But regarding Aishwarya Rai/Raj if you look on Google Images and enter her name you will see pictures of her in which both surnames (Raj and Rai) are mentioned. Maybe I should have mentioned the new, married surname as well, I agree in that, since I did it for Kajol. So, I guess it’s not just me making (apparently) this Raj/Rai mistake… However, thanks for letting me know. Even though I’m aware that Raj would actually be a male first name….. Well, if you would know how many versions people in Italy, where I come from, made out of my German surname “Schroeck” you would be shocked!!!! Well, maybe you’ve seen the movie Shrek…. I can tell you that the pronunciation at least is similar to it :-)

Embellished or normal, I would say just try to impress them. Mention some key achievements that makes always a great difference I would say. Just listing your tasks would make it just ordinary like any other CV.

  13. From the discussion What impact does Bollywood have on your life? Has it changed you somehow?

    Sun, 13 Jul 2008 20:03:48 -0000

If you are interested in knowing how other Germans perceive Bollywood and what impact it had on their life, read the following. I’ve seen it on a German website some months ago, unfortunately they had to close down recently due to some legal issues.

There are Germans who after watching Bollywood movies are:

    • replacing the wallpaper pictures on the computer with pictures of Bollywood stars
    • spreading the word to their loved ones saying how great the movies are
    • considering Bollywood as their new Hollywood
    • thinking about things which haven’t been noticed before in a different way
    • becoming also fans of India
    • willing to do something for the people in India to support them
    • decorating their room in Indian style
    • listening to Indian songs only
    • feeling simply happier
    • turning their life into a more positive one
    • thinking differently when it comes to love
    • looking forward of getting home to watch another new film release
    • after six years of being online finally learnt how to chat with other Bollywood fans
    • are able to show emotions more openly which was difficult in the past
    • collecting DVDs, pictures, CDs and Saris
    • learning how to cry which never happened in an Hollywood movie
    • becoming more sensitive
    • having finally found a great hobby
    • wanting to learn Hindi
    • shifting the addiction from Hollywood to Bollywood
    • convinced that true love can really exist
    • now respecting people more then they did in the past
    • helping people if in trouble
    • changing their attire to look more attractive
    • listening to their heart rather than reason
    • learning more about foreign cultures and being more open-minded
    • considering life more beautiful
    • filling the gap of a missing partner’s kisses and hugs
    • becoming more aware and noticing more often Indian stuff on a daily basis
    • improving their English due to the subtitles
    • finding new friends through the internet
    • smiling more frequently
    • loving life much more and having more fun
    • loving black hair women rather than blond ones
    • becoming a fan of Indian food/jewellery and garments
    • being used to collect stamps, while now saris are being collected
    • getting to know new interesting like-minded people
    • feeling inspired by dancing.

I remember one Bollywood fan in a discussion forum (name: Mona, Srk4Ever) said: “Once I feel really down no one else than Shah Rukh Khan is able to make me believe that in the world there are also good and nice things, that there is always someone there who relies on you and loves you. After watching a movie or listening to a song I’m full of life and confidence again. I can start the day happily and enjoy myself.” I would say SRK could feel quite flattered by such a statement.

Another internet user expressed himself like this: “It’s like a wave that carries you away, that you can’t stop. It completely involves you.”

Just one lady’s life hasn’t changed since watching Bollywood movies due to her parents who told her “Stop living in a dream world which doesn’t exist, in real life everything is different.”

  15. From the discussion What was the most touching Bollywood movie you've seen?

    Sun, 13 Jul 2008 19:22:08 -0000

“IN THE PLEX ITSELF MOMS WERE HUGGING THEIR CHILDREN KISSING THEM CUDDLING THEM AFTER THE MOVIE.” Wow! ..... Really wow!!!! If I were Aamir Khan I would feel so proud and perceive that as the biggest compliment someone could make to an actor …. If I were him and would win the Oscar, I would feel proud of this achievement but would be even prouder knowing that mums realised an important lesson ….. That’s what I meant by ‘life lessons’ that Bollywood can give you …. I do strongly believe that these kind of movies can help to become a better human being. In general they can teach you so much, whether you are a parent, a child, a spouse or all of this …. And please, everyone who thinks Bollywood movies are “just movies” or cheesy, that is the proof that it is definitely not!!!! Thanks for letting me know the reaction to this movie Koustabh!

  19. From the discussion What was the most touching Bollywood movie you've seen?

    Sat, 12 Jul 2008 23:15:50 -0000

When I mentioned “many more” than ‘Taare Zameen par – Every child is special’ was also included in it. I think this is a movie which every parent and every teacher should watch. Sometimes when you want to learn something it is more effective to see ‘how not to do it’. Aamir Khan played his role splendidly and I wonder whether he would have become a teacher if he wouldn’t have become an actor…... This movie also touched me, unfortunately it was the only one I saw from the internet in which the first part had subtitles and the second part (the crucial and important part in which A. Khan entered the scene) didn’t. Therefore I still have to see the proper version with English subtitles in this regard. But you don’t need to be able to understand the language 100 % in order to understand the core idea, the moral behind the movie. It reminded me of the book I wrote in 2004 about the importance of praising people (in particular children, in order to enhance their self confidence—> which is so important!)

I must admit it was a really inspiring movie (Taare Zameen Par), and other movies I’ve seen with Aamir Khan where Rang De Basanti and Fanaa (a movie which I would describe quite different compared to other Indian movies). Well, he would be my 10th actor which I didn’t mention in the list above. Maybe I shouldn’t have put them in this kind of order, but Amitabh I would say is definitely the leader ….
