    Great funny song, Andrew!!
If I could vote in the States, I would vote for him as well, Meri! But a bit sceptic about the power of change in real politics after the campain. Years ago I stayed close to Portland, Oregon, with students, in families. Including short stays in San Francisco. It was a striking experience!

  9. From the discussion What is Design And What is Art?

    Wed, 30 Apr 2008 18:00:15 -0000

... and probably you feel like sharing your answer with What is Art?? / Was ist Kunst??

For me an artwork is filled with meaning, best with subtile, ambi/multivalent meaning … I guess this is not necessary for an designwork? On the other hand it will also referr to something else, subtile, humorous, playing with meaning as well …

  16. From the discussion art / learning

    Sun, 27 Apr 2008 12:04:47 -0000

I believe that making art is learning: Making differences, that make a difference! Again and again, till the decision is made (another is always possible …) that this artwork is enough for now … and the next wants to be started …

Therefore in my artclassrooms `teaching´ is not needed, as long as the students have their own/shared ideas, material and tools, time and a cooperative atmosphere and options to publicise their artwork to the schoolcommunity!

    to correct me:
School-sanctions after or as far as pedagogical approaches are not enough ... and always balanced by the principle of proportionality

“§ 90 (2) Erziehungs- und Ordnungsmaßnahmen kommen nur in Betracht, soweit pädagogische Erziehungsmaßnahmen nicht ausreichen; hierzu gehören auch Vereinbarungen über Verhaltensänderungen des Schülers. Bei allen Erziehungs- und Ordnungsmaßnahmen ist der Grundsatz der Vehältnismäßigkeit zu beachten.”

  19. From the discussion Minimalism And The Problem Solving Process

    Sat, 26 Apr 2008 11:41:07 -0000

I believe that we have the same processes in art.
An artwork is reduced to it´s intended own limits. More would be knickknack. It is limited and opened at the same time … I love the systemtheoretical approach to define art started by Niklas Luhmann, who spun his systemtheory around the observer, who observes others observing …

Danke für die lesson, Alexander! Ich würde noch einen Schritt “Skizzieren” oder “Abzeichnen”, jedenfalls etwas mit Hand, einbauen. Vielleicht noch vor deinem zweiten Schritt.
