yes you are right…..actually rooms generate maximum revenue and comes under front office department, and for food and beverage many coustmers may come to restaurant and may have meals, but the profit wont be that much and as far as in-house guest who stays in the room atlest take one time meal in the hotel so that also contribute to revenue generation….....

Yes, there are other department in hotels like Maintaince( which take care of the electricity and water supply) Kitchen Stwerding( this department cleans the cutlery and crockery) Sales and Marketing ( for the banquet sales for some ceremonies) Human Resource dept. ( for upkeeping the records of employees their salary, their leaves) and last but not least Taining Department ( who hire the satff and give them trainning according to the requirement of the deparments and ensure that the staff is performing well) i hope this solve your query…..thanks

IHM Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore are giving more preference for campus placement as they are being located in metros and most of the five star property is also situated here. Companies give preferences more of metros cities based colleges.

depending on the scale of operations, there could be a number of other departments;
for instance, you could have a security dept., an accounts dept., a purchase dept., a maintenance dept. (for maintaining infrastructure) and so on;
i am sure that big hotels and resorts have multiple others, depending on their requirements; the ones detailed in this lesson page are the minimum ones which are required for a hotel to function properly

@Abhijeet: Thatz true in short run we may foresee some problems. So to some extent it’s true that it will affect the placements. 26/11 in specifically may affect just hotel industry n tourism industry but due to recession students from any background be it IT, Finance…etc will have a hard time in getting the job.
Having said that, I think if we include other factors also in to account not just 26/11 then in 2009 placement is going to be a problem for everyone.

@Manpreet and Kanika: Ya we can eradicate pest using pesticides. Some of the commonly used pesticides in Hotel Industry are:
Some common pest control chemicals:
For flying insect: diazinon, dichlorvos, pyrethrin , permethrin.
For crawling insect: arprocrab, bencliocrab, carbaryl, bromophos, lindane, firimiphos methylated compound.
For wood boring insects: dieldrin, lindane,permethrin tupertine.
For textile pest; dieldrine, lindane, permethrin sandalwood sachet neem leaves
For rat and mice: alpha chloralos, calciferol, chlorophacine, diphacinone, norbormide, warfarin, zinc phosphate, difenecoum.
