From the discussion Does Red Bull Really "Give You Wings"?
Tue, 02 Sep 2008 19:22:23 -0000
I just can’t get over the taste of Red Bull. Around exam time, Red Bull comes around campus handing out free drinks to students. All I’ve heard is that they taste really gross and give people headaches. I for one got a stomach ache from one, which is weird! Haven’t gone back on it since. Maybe I’ll give guru a try…

Word 5:
Cutaneous (Adj)- Relating to or affecting the skin. For example- After trying to swim along the shoreline this weekend, the sharp rocks gave me a cutaneous gash on my left foot. Another example- That sunburn could be described as a cutaneous pigment (adjective basically means to say pigment of the skin). -

Hi Sashrick,
I can totally understand where you’re coming from. Reading Comprehension does seem to take a little more time than the rest of the questions do. They also require a different study and skill set to attempt them. The important thing is to stay focused on the important parts of the passages. Scan and look for the thesis, or turn-around words such as Whereas, therefore, otherwise or on-the-other hand. You can use words such as these to guide your comprehension and pick out the important parts of the passage. You can also reduce your boredom by thinking in your head that you’re reading the passage out-loud to yourself. If you imagine that you’re reading it with much more vigor and enthusiasm, you’ll find you’re able to concentrate better and understand more.
For more tips and tricks, check out the GMAT Reading Comprehension I Lesson and GMAT Reading Comprehension Lesson II.

From the discussion statement of purpose
Tue, 02 Sep 2008 13:06:25 -0000
Hi Kirankumar,
Usually a statement of purpose is to show reasons to back up a statement for a certain goal, attempt, admission or essay. Are you able to clarify what this statement of purpose is for?
If it is linked to admissions, a school may be interested in what you intent at their institution is. They may want to know how you will benefit from your time actively seeking your MBA, or how this will advance your career goals. Usually a statement of purpose acts very similarly to an essay. The statement of purpose to introduce will function much like a thesis does for an essay.

From the discussion What's your reading style?
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 13:30:18 -0000
I definitely do the same. I find I always start reading in a sitting position, then it becomes lying on my side and then like two seconds later I’m out like a light. If I want to actually stay up and read I have to avoid my bed!

Avocado. It goes great with most things, sandwiches especially. It adds a hint of decadence and avocados are good for you too!

Nice! Never even considered that before. It definitely would add a creamier, heavier texture. I also use soy sauce a lot in cooking…oh, reduced sodium of course.
Nutella is also a good one – not an ingredient per se, but you’d be surprised how many ways you can eat it. Tastes good with bananas, and also on toasted English muffins – you put crunchy peanut butter on one side, Nutella on the other…my favourite breakfast!

I’m adding M.I.A. to the list. She’s pretty unique, I wouldn’t call her rock and I wouldn’t call her alternative. She’s probably best classified as “other”. But M.I.A. is “rocking” the music world with her unique sound and style. From Sri Lanka to London and South East United Kingdom, M.I.A. is challenging my perception of the music scene with each song that hits my ears.
