  1. From the trivia question 161. Sentence Correction:
Last year during chemistry class I sit besides Greg McGregor, who used to be the football team's captain and one of the most popular kids in school.

    Hi Rampuria,

Yes, after relooking this question, the “have” does stand out of place. Although it works grammatically, the “have” complicates, making verb confusion between “have” and “sat”. Thanks for your input.

  2. From the trivia question 257. GMAT Sentence Correction:

I became crafty and made a few paper cranes, the dexterity in my fingers became numb after making more than ten.

    Fri, 22 Aug 2008 14:44:25 -0000

Yes, you are right. I didn’t realize that the descriptor was indeed there to describe one’s fingers rather than the actual dexterity. It will be changed.

It is an incredible accomplishment. ChelseaFC brings up a great point. How is it possible for a swimmer to win 8 races, do other sports give the same flexibility to the best in their sport? Do say gymnasts have the opportunity to train for 8 events and have a good chance of winning them all? Maybe we should be distinguishing between the different events, making one strive and train specifically for each event, rather than focus on a couple strokes that can be either speedy and fast or speedy but with longevity.

I’m very excited to read LAMB I’ve heard good things. Also Eat, Pray, Love (is it?) has been on my list. Anyone know of any great used book stores around Toronto? Does anyone have some great places they get books from in their hometown?

  6. From the lesson GMAT Verbal: Idioms and Usage

    Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:08:10 -0000

    Hi Sushmitarg,

Whoops, right answer was incorrectly indicated, thanks for pointing that out. Yes, you are correct, the story was supposed to show how (as you’ve said) “See you later” is a casual saying of saying bye or that you may catch up with them at a later time. A student I knew once took this idiom literally and seriously, showing up actually later when someone had said “see you later”.

Great job, you know your idioms!

    Thu, 21 Aug 2008 14:58:53 -0000

I agree with you Bonny that business understanding is more important to test than managerial skills. Since it is the latter that you would think you would be learning the most of when you’re actually acting within your MBA education. Plus, having a general knowledge of mathematics, critical thinking, analyzing as well as English writing and reading skills will surely improve your wit within your program of choice for the MBA.

The usage of “besides” is actually incorrect. There is no need to attach the “s” onto the end of the word “beside”.

Thank you for your constructive criticism, I’ll be trying to update the above to be more specific and give more reasoning behind the hot or not ranking as it would be. For more information about the MBA itself check out the lesson, About the MBA. Check back soon to see if I am able to give more background and clarity into the qualifications, etc.

They were part of a book series made by Scholastic. The Animorphs series was really popular, my brother had a book set! The stories went that these teenagers morphed into different animals and different bugs etc. and took on different characteristics. Sort of a weird concept, but the book covers look pretty cool!

    Wed, 20 Aug 2008 17:52:37 -0000

Waste management I would say is the first priority. It wouldn’t take much in some places to add more green bins, recycling receptacles or encourage food vendors to use less wasteful packaging that will generally be used once and then thrown away. The less waste we throw out, the less of a footprint we will leave. I would say this is my first priority as it doesn’t take as much funding or planning as say architecture or mobility would.

  17. From the discussion Is Spirituality for sale? If so, where can I buy it?

    Wed, 20 Aug 2008 17:42:04 -0000

I totally agree. I feel that true spiritually should come from the actions you have and the thoughts within yourself. However, it makes me think that if, by chance these books can encourage one to think openly and access their truly spiritually, is it really a commodity? Or is it a call to help others on their way?

    Wed, 20 Aug 2008 17:29:23 -0000

I agree. The voice is truly a great instrument. It’s completely portable! No need to carry its case anywhere. Cleaning is fairly easy, just lay off the dairy products and is should stay pretty good for your next gig. Plus, wouldn’t you say that voice gives way to many other instruments? So it’s actually the first and then the beginning of many other instruments that make rock roll.

  20. From the trivia question 90. Find the major error:
The average Starbucks customer buys one coffee cup every morning, and they also buy one baked good per week.

    Wed, 20 Aug 2008 15:01:42 -0000

Either would work, however I stand by the decision to use “the” since you’re talking about one person who is an average Starbucks customer. This is specified later by the pronoun “they” which seems to be the error here.

The average customer and he/she would work very well together, since it is specific.
