  1. From the lesson CBC Results 2008-2009

    Tue, 10 Feb 2009 16:08:35 -0000

Congrats to the winner of CBC 2008-09! Loved participating in the competition, but there wasn’t a way to track development of participating communities. I hope that is rectified if CBC returns for 2009-2010!!

  2. From the discussion is dropping a year for IIT worth it?

    Mon, 09 Feb 2009 19:16:43 -0000

That’s a really touch question to answer. Infact, there isn’t a straight forward answer to the question. It really depends on how much you have faith in yourself and the amount of hard work you are willing to put in that extra year to get in to one of the IITs. If you strongly believe that you can crack JEE, then you should definitely give it one much chance as the lost year is more than compensated for if you do get selected. Good to see such interesting discussions come up :-)

  3. From the discussion Online exam system : The future?

    Fri, 06 Feb 2009 18:31:57 -0000

Absolutely, going online is the best form of examination as there is virtually no scope of errors and the results are much faster. It is a more transparent system that certainly should pick up more steam in future.

  5. From the discussion DCE-NSIT query

    Thu, 05 Feb 2009 17:44:11 -0000

Outside delhi people do not need to give any separate exam for getting into these institutes. The admission for outside delhi people is based on AIEEE ranks. But you need to fill up the form to be eligible for counseling. The forms for counseling are released after results to CEE exam are released.

  6. From the discussion IIT vs. IIIT, which is better?

    Mon, 26 Jan 2009 17:50:22 -0000

IITs have a big brand name behind them and a tag of IITian is good enough to get you a good placement across the world. However, IIITs have risen sharply in the past few years and are already competing with IITs in terms of placements etc. Sometimes students leave IITs to join IIITs mainly due to branch preference. However, it would not be a bad idea to ditch the new IITs and go in with the IIITs. One needs to do research about faculty, infrastructure etc before deciding.

    Mon, 26 Jan 2009 07:48:58 -0000

I certainly agree with you on that part. But a majority of selections from all over India are from those who have had some form of coaching or other. If you have the privilege of joining an institute you should seriously consider joining it and more so if it gives you an advantage over students who haven’t joined it.

  10. From the discussion Bansal Classes, Kota : Good enough?

    Mon, 26 Jan 2009 07:46:50 -0000

No coaching institute will “guarantee” you selection in to IIT. What they can offer is good quality education along with quality material. There is no substitute for hard work that is the primary requirement for getting in to IIT. Yes, Bansal classes in the most sought after coaching institute for IIT-JEE in India.

To be frank, I too don’t know much about the B.Arch exam as I did not appear for it myself. One thing though, there are some really good books available that can help you prepare for the B.Arch exam.

  13. From the discussion Best coaching institute?

    Thu, 22 Jan 2009 16:43:33 -0000

Vidyamandir Classes is the pioneer coaching institute for IIT-JEE preparation in Delhi. Bansal Classes in Kota is the best known coaching institute and students every year flock there for preparation. FIIT-JEE has a pan-India presence and has been producing IITians from all over the country for years now.

    Mon, 19 Jan 2009 20:16:43 -0000

Changing the pattern has made the competition tougher but at the same time it has provided an opportunity to multi-dimensional people to crack the exam which wasn’t the case earlier. Luck is always a factor in MCQ questions and was there earlier too with the old pattern in the screening test.

You would hardly find good teachers for AIEEE in institutes dedicated towards IIT-JEE preparation. Joining test series for AIEEE is more than enough.

I would advise against joining coaching institutes for AIEEE preparation. Class 11 and Class 12 is what you need to focus on to crack AIEEE exam. Joining a test series dedicated towards AIEEE is certainly a much better idea to improve your speed and accuracy. Shitij too has made some important points you can consider.

  17. From the discussion AIEEE or IIT?

    Sat, 10 Jan 2009 15:40:04 -0000

There are two ways you can look at it. I prefer looking it as a challenge rather than a rat race. Both have their own set of challenges and are miles apart from each other. Either way, you have to crack them as they hold the keys to the entry to your dream college! I however do not think they suck as they are fair and provide equal opportunity to every student.

  18. From the discussion Which is the best NIT?

    Thu, 08 Jan 2009 20:41:41 -0000

Of course, there is no doubt that NIT Trichy is one of the oldest and best NITs. It is closely followed by NIT Surathkal. However, when a particular branch is in question, the choice does vary.
