  2. From the trivia question The average of temperatures at noontime from Monday to Friday is 50; the lowest one is 45, what is the possible maximum range of the temperatures?

    Fri, 13 Nov 2009 12:56:06 -0000

    nice one

  3. From the trivia question My friend Jack and I started at the same time from our hotel to reach our friend's marriage. I traveled at 6 miles per hour and my friend traveled at 5 miles per hour. After we had traveled for 24 hours I suddenly decided that it might be a good idea to arrive with my friend and turned back to meet him. Approximately, how far away was I from my friend, in kilometers, after 1 hour of turning back and traveling towards my friend? (1 mile = 1.6 Kilometers).

    Fri, 13 Nov 2009 12:38:20 -0000

    very nice question

  4. From the trivia question GMAT Prep- Quantitative Section #202: I have a 2 digit numbers. The sum of the digits is 7, and the number is divisible by 8. Find the sum of my 2 digit number and 31.

    Fri, 13 Nov 2009 12:23:31 -0000

You can also try Plug in number from answers and try quickly to figure out actual number.

    1. 31 + xy = 83 . so xy = 52 . It is not divisible by 8. 2. 65 – 31 = 34 , not div by 8 3. 101 -31 =70 , not div by 8 4. 70 -31 = 39 , not div by 8 5. 47-31 = 16 , div by 8. hence 5 is correct answer.

This way we can quickly find the answer even mentally.

  5. From the trivia question 233. Sentence Correction:
Eating a large breakfast every day may help reduce stress and prevent medical problems including migraines.

    Fri, 13 Nov 2009 12:07:25 -0000

Eating is singular . hence D is not correct as correctly D should have been : Eating helps reducing…..

  6. From the question Data sufficiency

    Sun, 08 Nov 2009 18:31:53 -0000

Yes the answer should be E . 1. sum of two legs =15 It carries various possibilities like 10 +5 ,9+6,8+7 etc. hence it is not sufficient. 2.Hypotenuse is 12. It does not tell anything about length of base & Perpendicular or other two legs. Not sufficient.

    1+2 also not sufficient .

    H2 = sqr(12) = 144 Now if we try to figure out with 15 . then sqr(10) + sqr(5) = 100+25=125 not matching 144 sqr(11) + sqr(4) = 121 +16 =137 not matching 144 thus it is not possible to figure out easily what are distinct lengths of other two legs.

Hence C not correct. D is obviously not correct. Ans is E .

  7. From the question SC subject - verb agreement

    Sun, 08 Nov 2009 07:04:01 -0000

Yes the answer is listen . Majority . minority can be singular or plural depending on the subject. If subjects is projected as plural ( as majority of students , majority of commuters etc ) then verb will match with plural subject form . eg. majority of commuters listen or majority of students play football.

On the other hand if majority is associated with subject in totality itself then verb form will match with singular subject form. eg. The student majority wants the election to be fair. Refer to Manhattan SC guide for details .

Ya i thought the same also. But in Manhatten SC, in the section subject-verb agreement in action, the problem no 15 is almos same as I have quoted here, but it say “A majority of commuters reads or listens to music while travelling.” And the answer to this is that the statement is correct. Is this ambigious??

dear arit the test centre doesn,t allow u a watch. nor any other articles like pen paper , not even water bottle, only medicines are allowed. so it jusst u u u and u!!!!u can use the timer on the desktop but thats not o any use to monitor timings per responce . it just shows u how much time is left. i think the best way to do it have a sense of time > i.e pracrtically being able to know how long is a minute and half….....DOnt get to perturbed by the ticking timer … it distracts u and triggers a sense of panic !!! just stay cool (easy to say though !!) 20% questions dont even count !!!!!

You will not be allowed to carry watch inside the test center. It is better if you practice without its help.

I agree with ISB . My humble request to Learnhub authority to remove all questions of Acrosstheuniverse from Question bank. In fact all questions set by this pathetic author is full of errors and thus misleading. In fact the questions are not at all at par with GMATformat in most cases. Eg. This author has posted several questions to learn meaning of word. In GMAT no questions is given of such type. There are several examples of blunder by this author. WHY SHE/THEY ARE BEING ALLOWED TO POST IN QUESTION BANK ?

I hope Learnhub should set certain parameters for its author . If the author makes mistakes in more than 30 % questions then they should not be allowed to post any more questions in QB . It really does not make any sense to allow ATU to post any further questions . Request Learhub Team to remove all these misleading and time wasting garbage from QB .

Please maintain the superb quality hou have set by taking corrective actions .

Olahav , Suresbala etc are really great experts and posts GMAT questions which are at par with real GMAT questions and explanation. OLahav has posted so many good PS and DS questions . Would like to see someone expert in posting verbal questions in QB in place of acrossthe universe. PLS HELP.

Request all GMAT aspirants to ignore questions posted by acrosstheuniverse. These are misleading and wastage of time .

      Hi Aritdas,

Thanks for your suggestion on this issue.

Acrosstheuniverse created a number of questions of easy difficulty level – the point of these questions is to help students who are not comfortable with English.

Not all students will have your levels of comfort and ease with the English language. Hence the apparent “flimsiness” of the question.

Also, it’s wonderful that you are appreciating the efforts of Sureshbala and Olahav – rest assured that they will continue to contribute to the content on LearnHub.

We can, in the meanwhile review questions which are incorrect and then try to modify them so that we have the right set of questions.

      Thanks!
