No. The lessons listed on the community should be accessible for all. Let me know if you come across any such lesson – I will try to get the access issues fixed.

if you are thinking long term, then both degrees with a pg (masters or phd) are equal;
in the short term, an engineering degree might appear better, due to more lucrative salaries for engineering grads (as compared to pure science grads); however there are advantages to pursuing science as a career, that engineering doesn’t offer;
in the end, it’s all up to you and where your interests lie; you can be successful, in both streams;

I wanted to be able to modify the images on a computer. I was planning to use specific effects and am curious about the results.
A problem with film cameras in India is that there are very few places where one can develop them. I don’t have a dark room at my place – so my options are pretty limited.

Sticking to studying is a better idea.
As a student you are more prone to do something stupid and get into trouble. Politics at this early stage is not advisable. Rather, students can do active social work – this will give a better understanding of the real world and current problems.

From the discussion What makes a great resume?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 11:04:54 -0000
Hi Mike,
It’s difficult to get a job, but it’s definitely worth trying. To tell you the truth, most places “seem” like a good place to work from the outside, but aren’t that great once you join them.
At the moment your first priority should be getting that job and taking care of your daughter. Make a list of places where you think you can work (your qualifications will help you choose a suitable place). After that, start talking to people who are working there, try to figure out how much money you’ll make there and what kind of work you’ll need to do.
A good way to get a job is to get someone in the company put in a good word for you. It might take a little while to get this done, but it’s definitely worth it.
Also, you should try and assess if your qualifications are enough. If not, then it will make sense to invest time in getting better qualifications. Of course, this can happen only when you have the money for it.
Lastly, I’d suggest that you be proactive (as in, take every extra step that you can take) in job hunting. Remember, that you are just another guy looking for a job for the employers. But the job means way more than that for you.
To sum it up – try looking for any job so that you can support your family. Then save up, so that you can get some qualifications and get a better job, where you can grow more.
Good luck.

From the discussion How do we promote rwh?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 10:56:33 -0000
One way to really get it working is to incentivize it for people. For instance, if the govt. gives a tax rebate or lower loan interest rates for farmers or panchayats who focus on significant rain water harvesting, then we can be sure that it will become a popular practice.
Rural schools have become popular since they provide food for kids (1 meal a day). The same can be done for rainwater harvesting.
If not tax rebates or lower interest rates, the govt. can definitely provide seeds, fertilizers, etc at subsidised costs.

Simply put, a revenue department is something that gets cash for the establishment. A non revenue department doesn’t earn money directly for it’s contributions.
For instance, gardening won’t get the hotel money directly, while the restaurant will. However, gardening is important since it leads to better ambiance.

From the trivia question You've gone to watch a game in which all female players use sticks to control a rubber ring and attempt to shoot that ring into the opposing team's net. What game are you watching?
Wed, 07 Oct 2009 10:45:51 -0000
Hockey has either a ball (for field hockey) or a solid puck (for ice hockey). The question clearly states that the ladies are controlling rubber rings. It’s clear that the sport in question is not hockey.

Just go to your profile and have a look at the authority tab. You’ll get a detailed break up of where your authority points are coming from.
The authority increases quickly at first but tends to slow down. For more authority points, you’ll have to create lessons or start your own community.
Good luck with that!

It’s best if you can use it for reference. You can’t amend it – but it hardly takes time to make a ppt.

Institutes are ranked on infrastructure, level of instruction, course structure, quality of students and placements.
Try to get hold of India Today (the magazine) – specifically the college ranking edition. You’ll get a detailed review of the whole process.
