  1. From the discussion Send me a message everytime I send a thread?

I’d say the option in Settings to specify. My biggest frustration with our current LMS Blackboard is that unless I make a conscious effort to go into it to check, I don’t know if there is any new content. I prefer the way Moodle handles the ability to subscribe to threads you wish to follow. As an example, I’d love to follow the development requests in this support forum to keep abreast of changes so I don’t replicate existing requests/notifications.

Another nice feature that I’ve seen in some blogs and in Moodle is the ability to follow and respond to discussion posts via email (as an option, not by default). One of my biggest frustrations with our Blackboard system is the proprietary nature of their environment. Students and faculty have to make a conscious effort to check every one of their courses just to see if there is something new posted.

New Page, New Presentation, New Video should be buttons within the Course Creation process.

Each item should be editable/modifiable – as an example, I update a PPT presentation. Rather than recreate an entirely new presentation, I should be able to upload the newer version within the existing presentation link.

Ability for course instructor to create linear/guided progression through a course. Essentially Back/Next links to the last/next item in the learning progression. Example – lead off with intro, transition to a video, link to a discussion on that video.

Test items: add ability for multiple correct answers in multiple choice, add subjective assessment questions such as fill in the blank/short answer/essay.

Based on survey, ability to create a non-graded but aggregated survey tool for pre- and post- tests, evaluations, other survey or self-test applications.

The presentation tool is interesting. Any thought of adding voice-over functionality a la narrated PPTs, Slideshare, etc.? (But with a better user interface than either of the examples and ability to add per slide audio!)

Will you be adding additional question types in the Test tool? The multiple choice is the old stand-by but perhaps the addition of fill-in-the-blank, short answer/essay would provide a platform for the subjective assessments that many of my faculty prefer.

Would it also be possible to have the multiple choice questions allow for multiple correct answers?

Yes, definitely. Different question types are coming soon.

Your suggestion for allowing multiple correct answers is also a good one. We’ll do that for sure.

We’ll review the bugs you came across as well. We’re working diligently to get all the kinks out.

Just checked out the AuthorStream link from the PPT presentation I was able to upload. I am a little disappointed that there is nothing letting the author know that their presentation is being outsourced without attribution to the author, rather the more generic Savvica. For this to go beyond beta, you will need to let folks know that their material is not protected and you will want to ensure that attribution to AuthorStream denotes the originating author rather than their host.

I’m liking what I see so far. A lot of potential here!

    Few bugs I came across:

Presentations: 1. Could not upload either a PPT or PPTX file. Kicked back an error. Is there a file size limit and if so could that be posted on the upload page? (Update: Received the error for both but was able to view the PPT in the course. Error may not be accurate?) 2. Once a PPT has been uploaded, if I modify/update it at a later date, it would be nice to be able to replace the original file with the new one rather than to have to create an entirely new presentation.

When creating a course: It would be nice to be able to build content from within the course shell rather than to have to exit the course, upload files, presentations, etc. and then relink from within the course. I think a simple button at the top of the course for New Page, New Presentation, New Video would suffice.

When taking a course: It would be nice if the student saw the closed shell of the course rather than all presentations. Hard to explain in writing but when I created a course and linked a Presentation, it showed fine but then the student was presented with the My Presentations view and not the Curriculum view. This may not occur for students but even instructors would prefer to have their courses encapsulated so as to avoid “cross-polination.”
