Wow, I would never have got that on my own, thanks so much. Does that work in the lesson thingy too?

Thanks Chuck, I’ve already read that several times, my account is set up to do the html version but I am not getting that version when I try to create a lesson. I keep getting the quick editor and my html is showing up on the page, I must be doing something wrong so will try again.
While I do agree on your comments, I don’t think we are addressing the same issue. My comments were directed to confusion on the setting up of courses, lessons, tutorials which to me seem very similar but disjointed here.
Rather, I think it would be more intuitive to have them set up, as Kim suggested, like what most people think of as ‘modules’ so that you start a course, you devise tutorials, which lead to the lessons and then on to assignments, discussions and feedback in one tidy package.
It is not the community aspect I was talking about, it was the way things are set up in that particular way that leads to some confusion when setting up your courses or lessons or whatever.
I don’t think people should be setting up lessons called lessons unless they are offering a course and the lessons are included in that type of setting. If they want to just do one ‘lesson’ maybe it should be only called a tutorial.
Yes, Kim I like the way you explained exactly my point. :) I decided to set up my own little community and am just trying to figure out the way to use html on it, have posted some questions in the learning area but no response just yet.
I will keep trying anyway.
I can’t figure out how to access the html or how to upload a photo properly.
In order to access HTML you need to create a lesson using the Textile Editor… there is a full lesson here how to use it. You can also find a detailed how to upload a photo there as well.
how to open & learn lesson to succeed in gmat?
I know exactly how you feel Vihad, somewhere on here I posted a discussion on a debate thread about how it made no sense to me to have lessons, courses and other discussions and debates. To me a course has lessons, and lessons shouldn’t have other lessons from other people than the original creator.
I am on my way to wikieducator. :)
Well that sounds simple enough, I’ll give that try and see how the fonts etc work out with it. Should be good! :)
Could you perhaps give an example of the box styling css when you do two different ones styled together?
Thanks! I am wondering is there a way to easily take a static width page and turn it into a fluid page? Is it just the width that you need to worry about or is the whole of the css influenced?
Wonderful lesson, I used to sit on hiring panels where I helped create questions, set up tests for interviewees, interviewed applicants, assessed resumes and candidates, shortlisted and notified successful candidates.
As an interviewer on the other side of the desk, a few comments from that prospective on the interview.
1/ Try not to focus so much on yourself, see if you can put yourself in the interviewers shoes. The interviewer is really hoping you will do well as they really do want to find a good employee.
2/ Realize that the person, or persons, interviewing you may also be nervous. Not so much if it is a panel of two or three people, but some managers are not comfortable with the decision making that comes with hiring someone.
This is especially true if you are applying for a position in a young company that is suddenly experiencing a burst of expansion. The interviewer may not be experienced at interviewing someone.
It will be up to you to make sure you present yourself as a person who is confident. If you sense the interviewer is not asking the right questions or they don’t seem focused, make sure you expand on your answers to cover all the points you feel are important.
The people that were most successful were those who projected confidence in their abilities, took time to think of their answer before answering a question and who seemed enthusiastic without being overly excited or phony.
Love that and my iris flowers are in bloom right now too! :) What is your story about?
How frustrating, I had the same thing happen several times, it freezes up everything and I have to reboot.
Read the job description thoroughly to be sure an email is an acceptable way to contact the employer. Also note if they will allow you to attach a resume.
If there is nothing in the job description saying an attachment is okay, you might want to contact them with a cover letter expressing your interest in the job and then check with them to see if it is alright for you to send an attachment with your resume in another email.
Some employers want a written contact through the mail only so don’t email them with your first contact.
With those that prefer you contact them by email, make sure you check for grammar and spelling errors before you hit the send button.
I am having this same problem with firefox at times and have switched to safari which seems to be okay now, (today at least) but I’ve had trouble with this on both of them.
I have several books on the go at once. I remember when my children were small and they came home from school, I’d be reading a book while cooking (a very late) supper and would get this : “Oh no mom’s been to the library again!”
I focus on whatever book I am reading at the time and they are all different genres or topics so I don’t get mixed up. As I mainly read non-fiction it is easy to keep it all straight. :)
I am a voracious reader and read everywhere! Even in the car – I listen to talking books! I always have a pocket book in my purse and almost look forward to delays on the highway so I can take out my book and read.
When I’m home I have different types of books in various places, I keep my recent fiction thriller or mystery near me when I watch TV and read while the commercials are on. My self-help or philosophical or spiritual type books are next to my bed for before bed reading…unless that mystery is getting good and I take it to bed with me and read for awhile.
I too read magazines from back to front usually.
I actually get anxious if I am out somewhere and I have forgotten to take a book along. Especially when I go to a medical or dental appointment, they have such lousy reading material there.
Lousy and outdated, it’s true. But I’m usually too nervous to read anything.
I take it you read several books all at once if you have different books in different places… how do you manage to do that? Don’t you mix things up?
I can only read one book at a time… and I still get mixed up sometimes.
I like that little outline tool, it helps me organize my thoughts before I write my practice essay. :) Usually when work is assigned there is a word count (even when you get paid for it!)
New writers tend to write too many words. But then there is the other thing, getting started. It is much better to write too much and then cut it down to size, than to sit there wondering how to get started.
Creative non-fiction is usually longer and I hate when they use metaphor, maybe that is why I have a hard time writing essays, I am not used to writing like that. I am determined to produce a decent essay one of these days tho. :)
You are right I think. If we get our thoughts and ideas across, out of our head, onto the page in a way that our mind picture is evoked in the mind of our reader then that is the secret I think. Consider that depending on where the reader comes from, cultural norms for that reader and past experiences, many things may not be familiar but if you can touch an emotion, no matter what the reader’s background is, they will take something with them after they read your piece, don’t you think?
The trick is I think to find just those right words to express your mind picture and the feeling you want to evoke. That is the fun part. :)
My goodness Nellie! How impressive is that!!! I can see I will have my work cut out for me visiting all your blogs, which I promise to do in days to come.
Thanks for posting your links, I look forward to getting to know you Nellie! :)
