    Yes gave csskarma the head up on this when I saw his trivia. It’s not just the trivia questions that this happens to, but it also happens in the Quiz’s…. learned these both the hard way and just deleted the ones that gave me problems. Note to kimrothwell RE: adding htmlentities() in the php…. that could work if this site was written in php…. but, learnhub is written in Ruby on Rails.

    Podcasts would be a great addition to learnhub. How they would manage the feeds of the podcasts would be a hole other issue. Mostly from what I’ve seen on learnhub is any audio or visual content has been hosted elsewhere on another website then linked to from learnhub. (ie. youtube, etc.) It would be a much larger task for them to integrate all these other multimedia platforms into their system. But who knows, they may eventually get around to it as they are a rather new website.

    I think we might skip this recipe then…

    Hot Bubble Tea Latte for one serving (16 oz.)

    Measurements: 4 tbsp of Bubble Tea “Flavored Powder”

    1-1/2 cup of Hot Tea

    1/4 cup of Milk/ Fat-Free Milk

    1 scoop of cooked Bubble Tea “Tapioca Pearls” in a drinking cup

    Procedure: First add the powder and hot tea into the drinking cup.

    Mix until all powders are well mixed and add milk. Pour Tapioca Pearls or Jelly Toppings into the drinking cup. Use a Fat Straw to enjoy the smooth texture of bubble tea.

    You can add whipped cream as a topping . *If you like it sweet add 2 tbsp of “Sugar Syrup” or 2 tbsp of Condensed Milk.

    I think the critique was a good one… esp. coming from TechCrunch, like you pointed JohnPhilipGreen. Glad to hear that it also brought some new visitors to the site for their first visit and introduction to LearnHub.

    Only thing I wasn’t too sure about was this line from the article: “With so many options to choose from, students may lose direction, which may lead experienced tutors to choose to use sites designed exclusively to promote their specialty, as eduFire does with video tutoring.”

    How does one loose their own way in this regard? And, about eduFire…. I’m not a fan of their website as I find their site to be a little confusing to the first time visitor and doesn’t seam to have as great & friendly of a community as found on LeanHub. And lastly, it only a teaching website for languages. But thats just one mans opinion.

    A quick and dirty way is to change the dimensions in the CSS file from either pixels or em to % for the width. For the length, your file would normally be fine unless your CSS file has a limit on the length of the columns.

    Great write up, jza. “Children can be amazing when it comes to technology, having an amazing curiosity kids can play with GNU/Linux and explore the operating system.” Also to note the One Laptop Per Child project that is a Linux laptopis an educational initiative that is attempting to provide access to the intellectual and social resources of the world to children who would otherwise be without. “Empower the children of developing countries to learn by providing one connected laptop to every school-age child.” I’d love to one day get my hands on one of these XO laptops myself to see it operation. Keep up writing jza! I enjoy reading your articles.

    No. Why? Because any type/form of learning takes time. In such, for even the learner, their time taken to learn online costs them. As in the saying… time = money. That’s one opinion for the moment.

    Renich your right… That would be a great feature for Learn Hub to have. I’d also second the advanced configurations with Ubuntu.

      well, I wouldn’t recommend ubuntu for servers… I’d prefer CentOS or gentoo, in that case! ;=) I’ll try to make them generic (include ubuntu and fedora/CentOS info)

    I agree with wmoxam about our history. And if a more relaxed history of Canada’s past events lead us to our free country as it stands today… well I’d just have to accept it. But to say that Canadian History is dry, I couldn’t agree. Maybe dry on the surface, but dig a little deeper and meet the strange characters that shaped the nation and you may find a diamond in the rough filled with some interesting facts and foes….. “but you did have a good opinion of the day!”

    I agree my high school history eduction made Canadian history out to be rather dry and boring. It wasn’t until later in life that I returned to reading about Canadian history and began to enjoy it. Now it wasn’t about memorizng dates and strange bits that I had no interest in just to pass the test. What I enjoy about Canadian history and find amusing to read (and some how memorized more events this way) was learning about personalities of characters. The people that outline Canadian history are great characters and many of them have strange quirks that you never learned in the text books.

    Multimedia student here…. I was once asked by the programs advisory board of my program (that I also sit on) how to motivate and engage the students more with their assignments. And from that day, I began my side studying of education and teaching methodology for not knowing an “easy” answer to the question. In such, the quest has been a great education experience for myself and for those I share my learnings with.

    I don’t think that there is an easy answer for this question. For myself, it would have to be that my education/assignments could be linked with my personal interests or that they may give me room to explore, develop and learn on my own to add to the project.
