  1. From the discussion Your personal All-Star Band

    Sat, 05 Jul 2008 00:38:29 -0000

As for a more modern list, I am just gonna pick from my favourite bands…

Vocals – No doubt about it: Howard Jones of Killswitch Engage – a master of both traditional vocals and hardcore screaming. Or Matt Bellamy of Muse – my unofficial God. No one can touch his talent with a fifty foot pole.

Guitar – I bow down to these two guys. Their unreal shred skills make me wet my pants. Herman Li of Dragonforce is the fastest guitar player I have ever seen. A true Lord of Shredding. Second has to be Oli Herbert of All That Remains, everything he plays is amazing.

Bass – Chris Wholstenholme of Muse. This dude plays the bass with his eyes closed at live shows and makes it look soooo easy. His talent is only matched by his class.

Drums – If I had to choose one guy from an epic era of drummers I would have to say: Jimmy Sullivan of Avenged Sevenfold because he dominates on the kit. This dude has insane skills and his speed is awesome. There are a lot of greats out there, but listening to a lot of A7x’s songs you can hear gut busting drums every time.

I’m gonna make my first group a gang of classic rockers and then throw together a group of modern rock gods.

Vocals – I’m gonna have to go with one of the strongest voices to ever grace our earth: Freddie Mercury (I pray you know who he performed with); he just has that ability to make you say “wow”....

Guitar – I am a sucker for ridiculous solo and shredding skills so I have to say either Steve Vai or Eddie Van Halen; both masters of the guitar and lords of rock.

Bass – Tough call there are a lot of bassists who have some serious skills but for the classic group I’m gonna say either Geddy Lee of Rush or Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, both masters of their craft.

Drums – How do you choose one man in this group? There are so many legends. Top of my list, I would have to go with one of the wildest and creative drummers ever: Keith Moon of The Who. This dude had amazing talent but was plucked from his prime.

  3. From the discussion Who'll take the Euro Cup?

    Thu, 12 Jun 2008 00:22:04 -0000

I have to agree with earlier statements: Spain and the Netherlands look very strong. They both have a group of young players ready to make the leap to superstar status (Torres and Villa for Spain, Sneijder and Kuyt for the Netherlands). Being Ducth I have to root for the Oranje, but Portugal’s dominance of the Czechs and Cristiano Ronaldo’s masterful performance in club football this passed season makes me weary. But like I said, go Oranje!

I love the BMI rant. My favourite stat is that Pro-bowl linebacker, Brian Urlacher would be considered obese because he is 6’0” and 254 pounds. I dare anyone to tell him he is obese. They can find out what getting hit by a truck feels like, and I don’t mean a Chevy.

Definitely a great choice of colours. This will definitely stand out from the other books when it hits the shelves.

      I like the colors too.

My favorite part though is definitely how Tara’s name is so integrated. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that in a book cover before; she herself is a conceptual part of the layout.

I just finished my final designs on a set of business cards for my personal training company as well as matching program and document templates. I’ve also done some t-shirts and advertisements for various reasons. I prefer to work with photoshop for the most part. I don’t do anything too challenging really.

I have to say my favourite exercise at the gym is deadlifts. Nothing gets you more jacked up than when you lift more than double your body weight. I feel so awesome after I’ve met a lofty goal I’ve set for myself

That’s very interesting. It’s unfortunate so much talent is wasted because of institutional buraucracy.

But it is nice to see that soccer in Canada is being taken more seriously, for example hosting the men’s U-21 last year (I think?) was a huge step for Soccer Canada.

    Mon, 12 May 2008 20:21:46 -0000

I ask myself that question almost everyday. I mean we did win “the Gold Cup” a few years ago, but for a country with so much soccer talent I have never understood how we haven’t cracked even the top 50 in the FIFA rankings. I do have a feeling, however, that in a few years Soccer Canada will be very highly regarded. We have started to host international tournaments and really show we are serious about soccer in our country. But as for the male national team, I don’t know whats up. At least the female team is pretty strong.

  14. From the discussion What's your favorite F.C.?

    Mon, 12 May 2008 20:01:12 -0000

Ewwww Chelsea?! I gotta agree with your mates, Man Utd all the way. Although I support Man Utd because they are a monster on the international scene. My favourite F.C is easily Celtic F.C, the juggernauts of the Scottish Premier League. They definitely have the most classic jersies of any team I’ve ever seen. (on the club circuit anyway)

If we’re already talking about the Scottish Premier League… I’m much more of a Glasgow Rangers fan. Although I do agree that the Celtics were slightly better this year.

And the Celtic colors are green and white, it’s more Irish than Scottish, so I wouldn’t say their jerseys choice makes much sense.

Quite impressive lesson. The “rules” make sense, but I think the most important thing to focus on is the actual audience. I would suggest that analyzing your actual audience and building a presentation for them as opposed to building one for your own goals will likely result in a better overall presentation. At least it will be accepted and embraced more.

I’ve got to agree with you Alex. Wii does deserve recognition for trying to help people out, but there is no way an hour of video gaming can compare with an hour of hardwork through cardio and resistance training.

Also, great work on the blog and website, I must commend you for doing your best to help people with their fitness problems.
