I saw Watchmen. I didn’t read the graphic novel so I didn’t have any expectations of the movie. For me it wasn’t that great of a movie. For some reason I felt compelled to watch it to the end but not because I was really enjoying it. I hopeful that it would redeem itself and all come together at the end. It didn’t. Rather it just limped toward a lame set-up for the sequel.

    Hi Gee2

One school that you may wish to consider is MGH Institute of Health Professions. They are located in Boston and offer a Masters degree in Physiotherapy. They have many students from India and the tuition is reasonable.

Let us know if you require additional information.

I really enjoyed the awards ceremony this year. Hugh Jackman did a good job hosting… who knew he could sing? I also liked the format of the previous winners speaking to the nominees for best actor and best supporting actor.

Heath Leger won for his role as the Joker. It was a great performance and he is missed.

Slumdog Millionaire was the best movie I have seen for a long time. It really did stand above the others.

Thanks Michael. You are right we have to keep in mind at all times who our audience is and make sure we engage them in a way that they will respond to, rather than the way “we have always done things”.

  20. From the discussion Best Superhero Movie

    Thu, 14 Aug 2008 16:33:02 -0000

You say that the older Batman and Superman films aren’t great but I am afraid that you are allowing the special effects that movie makers have at their disposal today to cloud your judgement. Today’s superhero movies are more about high speed chases, gadgets and technology than they are about the hero actually being a hero. The modern Batman is self absorbed and spends more time brooding and feeling sorry for himself than helping others and fighting crime. The recent Superman movie portrays Superman as abandoning earth which is not particularly heroic.

The first superman movie and the best was released in 1978 starring Christopher Reeve as Superman. In my opinion he was and remains the best Superman actor to date not only as Superman but also as the mild mannered Clark Kent.

This movie told the original story of Superman starting on Kryton. Marlon Brando was excellent as Jor-El and the special effects at the time (1978) of Krypton being destroyed marvelled audiences. The movie captured audience attention right from the start!

The casting of Superman’s earth parents was also spot on as an elderly farm couple who raise Superman as Clark.

The Fortress of Solitude with the control panel of crystals and Superman’s journey through space and time with Jor-El is my favourite part of the movie. I LOVE the Fortress of Solitude!

Gene Hackman plays Lex Luther and is a little hokie and annoying, especially his side-kick Otis. But the point is that we are not supposed to like the villain. The villain is not supposed to be cool.

Superman is a hero in this movie, he saves the day. And that is what the whole Superhero, emphasis on Hero genre started from.

I watched this movie again as recently as a couple of months ago and I still enjoyed it, not only for the nostalgia but also because it’s a great movie all around!

By the way… this movie was nominated for 3 Oscars and another 10 wins and 14 nominations for other awards.
