  1. From the discussion Really The End???

    Sat, 07 Nov 2009 04:27:04 -0000

Well, as the D-day (21/12/2012??) is approaching nearer, this topic is gaining popularity. As the inherent nature and urge of all living beings is the continuity/eternity of Life, it naturally is a matter of concern to any ordinary human being. The indications towards the D-date (2012) find their basis, among others, from – Nostradamus predictions, Mayan Calendar, Bible, Buddhists and Hindu texts. To join them, of late, even some scientific experts are endorsing such predictions/possibilities of life on the earth coming to an end and there could be a number of potential causes to cause such massive destruction, like – a comet striking the earth, third World War which will most probably be a nuclear one, depletion of the ozone layer which can bring harmful radiations to earth, eruption of the great volcano, global warming causing increase in the sea level due to melting of all ice, polar shifts causing large changes in the earth’s magnetic field etc. etc.

Whatever be the time and cause for the D-day, I think we need to continue to live life without unduly bothering about all these things, yet contributing our little bit to prevent destruction at least from the man made causes.

I believe Forgiveness is one of the great virtues of the Supreme (God) and there is no sin, howsoever big, that is not capable of being forgiven by God through the power of an earnest true prayer.

I also think so provided the human life on the earth continues for few more decades and is not annihilated by massive self destructive means or by the natural forces!

  16. From the lesson GRE:Punch Of the Week (10-April-09)

    Sat, 11 Apr 2009 04:44:05 -0000

Analogy: Answer is A, the words being antonym to each other.

    PS: Answer is D (8)

Let b, g and c be the number of boys, girls and chairs respectively.

    We have:

    b + g = c + 1, and

    b/2 + g = c – 3.

Subtracting the 2nd equation from 1st, we get -

    b/2 = 4

    Hence b (number of boys) = 8

  17. From the discussion the continuous rain

    Mon, 06 Apr 2009 04:15:20 -0000

It is given in Statement 2 that at 9.30 AM, 40% of “continuous rain” is more to come. Since it (“continuous rain”) started at 6.30 AM, it follows that “continuous rain” was seen/forecast till 11.30 AM. Since, the rain finally stopped 3 hours after it was seen continuous, it follows that it must have stopped at 2.30PM.

    Hope, it is clear!

  18. From the discussion the continuous rain

    Thu, 02 Apr 2009 04:10:52 -0000

It is given that the rain was seen continuous at 3 hours before it really stopped. So, if it was seen continuous till 11.30 AM, it must have stopped at 2.30 P.M.

How did u come to the conclusion that it was seen continuous till 11:30 am? Question does not mention till what time it was seen continuous. ( It just says that it was seen continuous at 3 hours before it really stopped ) . I agree with oLahav. Answer should be C.

  20. From the discussion feelings of fatigue

    Wed, 01 Apr 2009 12:57:41 -0000

    Answer is B (14%).

I think in the 1st line of the question, the word ‘who’ should be inserted between ‘interns’ and ‘receive’ as it is given in later part of the question that 80% of interns receive less than 6 hours of sleep. Hence, 20% of interns receive 6 or more hours of sleep.

Interns complaining of fatigue = 75% of 80% of total interns = 60% of interns

Hence, interns who don’t complain of fatigue = 70% of (balance 20% of total interns) = 14% of interns
