  2. From the discussion State of Quota System

    Sun, 05 Jul 2009 10:30:21 -0000

Quite right actually… there has to be an equal number of seats so that not an group of people feel under priviledged. If we have enough number of seats, serving all the students equally then quota system will not be needed.

There are several colleges in DU where your sister can seek admission in B.Com (Hons) course. So far their is no implementation of women’s quota in DU. No college as such offers reservation seats for female candidates. As per her score-89% and according to recent cut off in commerce; the following colleges will be good for her:-

    1. Bhim Rao Ambedkar College (85% for B.Com (H) 2.Sri Auorobindo College (85% for B.Com (H) 3.Kalindi College 88% for B.Com (H) 4.Lakshmi Bai College 88% for B.Com (H)

Its quite true, Semester System will enable students to execute their learning capacity rather then mugging up at the end of the year. In middle of all the course programmes students will have dire need to keep abreast with classes, assignments and presentations. Semester System will have a great out come in terms of better learning, lesser work load, and creating good students.

  5. From the discussion Entrance exam or Class 12 marksheet?

    Tue, 23 Jun 2009 15:01:27 -0000

CATE- College Aptitude Test for English- as the term says; should be evaluated in a different light. University of Delhi has adopted this new strategy not to take admission blindly but to check the aptitude for English in the upcoming students. According to any state board or CBSE, English serves as the language for any feild required. It is pretty scoring too. Strategically a student may crack the exams with fabulous marks. Therefore these tests are desighned to evaluate how well the candidate is in Literary knowledge. Because at Honours level we do not have English just as language but we study it as Literature. One might be good in language but one has an aptitude for advanced learning in Literature or not, this exam varifies that.

  6. From the discussion About Ragging

    Tue, 23 Jun 2009 14:37:59 -0000

Getting amusement at some one’s cost… how that can be fun? I think what we need is a new mode, a new activity to invent fun and frolic on campus. Ragging is certainly an old notion… and now a very offencive one too. If we need to know new people we have to be sensitive. Rather a new channel, a newer way of having positive interaction is needed. Imagine someone anxious, scared and confused at first day of college…and we start with what we call ‘feindly gesture’ is actualy mock-harassment. We have to stop this old form of bantering. Besides their are several way of getting to know each other then via ragging.

Because of your OBC rank status you might get a fare chance to secure a seat. Whereas your over all marks obtained and rank does not appear promising. Also check prerequesite details and criteria for admission in NIT- Nagpur. You can apply in many other institutes situated all over Maharashtra. If you have any other option for college go for it.

Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur is a very good place to study in Maharashtra. You must get details like how much of score and ranks are preffered by them. The obtained scores look quite obscure therfore be prepared to apply in some other college as well. If not this institute then I can list some other colleges for you-

1.Maharashtra Institute of Technology and Engineering Pune 2.F.R.Conceicao Rodrigues Institute of Technology Navi Mumbai 3.Kavikuguru Institute of Technology and science (Engineering College) Nagpur

The online counselling you opted for kindly go back to its details or send your query regarding the status they have sent you. This will give you a clear picture why the seats for which you opted are not available. According to your rank-122022 and category rank-4637 , situation is quite obsolete. But you can try second round of counselling. Be hopeful, also try to sit for exam next year when you are more prepered.

Your OBC category rank can get you an admission in National Institute of Technology Warangal or Indian Institute of Information Technology Allahabad. Both of these institutes are great to study in. As for Delhi College of Engineering they have more demands for scores, which is to say first thousand ranks with aproximately 300 of marks are preffered by them. You may have a better chance in the other two mentioned institutes. So go for them.

Best options for your daughter is to apply in as many courses as she is interested in. She will be eligible for English (H), B.Com(H), B.Sc(H) in both Physics and Chemistry as well. Also her scores in Maths are brilliant therefore, Maths (H) is highly recommended.

  18. From the discussion Rank These Colleges for B.Com and B.Com (H)

    Thu, 11 Jun 2009 16:36:45 -0000

    Hello Adityasingh9.

The colleges you must look for getting admissions in a B.Com (H) Course should be Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, Ragdhani College, Sri Aurobindo College, and Swami Shradhanand College. The reason why I prefer these colleges is quite simple, A) they are D.U.’s reputed colleges and B) they are morning colleges. A degree whether being attained from a morning college or an evening college is the same but, if you have a better chance in getting admission for a morning college will be good for you.

As for B.Com Delhi College for Arts and Commerce, Deshbandhu (Evening), Zakir Hussain (Evening) and Satyawati will be good in terms of faculty and exposure for you in future. Good luck with the admission.

    Hi Akansha

Let me start by saying this; home science is one of the most under estimeted course in general awareness. Though the scope of studying home science is practically good. As you have mentioned you are in final year of graduation, for an execelent career you need to have a specialization in this area, so apply for masters degree it will be great to do M.Sc in the same. As far as the career is conserned you can have a diploma in Food Preservation to get a job in of the Agro based sector. You can also choose to be Dietician in any School or Hospitals they alway hier nutritionists and it’s quite in demand as well. After studying home science teaching is also a good choice, do consider all possibility and see where your interest lies.

You did not mention whether you are seeking admission in Biotechnology couse at under-grad level or desires a masters degree. Both ways keep your percentage in mind before applying. In delhi there are several colleges which provide this course – B.Sc in Biotechnology, colleges such as Desh Bandhu college, Daulat Ram college, Sri Venkateshwara college are some of the reputed institutes. If you want to study out side Delhi the St. Xavier’s Mumbai is very renowned in this area as well. If you are willing for the private Universtiy then AMITY is a great option too. Please check the cut offs and you science subject combination , which you have persued at senior secondry level. Also be prepared for an entrance test some institutes might want you to clear an entrance exam. Good luck.
