Appear for lots of CAT Online tests and analyze each test in detail….identify what kind of mistakes you are repeating, topics in which you find difficulty….then revise theory of difficult topics then again appear for another CAT Online tests and see if you have improved or not….again do the analysis n so on….

Although BITS Goa and BITs Hyde are equally good but i would suggest you can go for BITs Goa…apart from the fun factor, BITs Goa has better enviornment for non-south indian students and academically also its good. If you are not a South Indian then it would be herculean task to join BITs Hyderabad and mix up with other students.

    So go for BITs Goa.

Thanks for the list of GMAT Sample tests. I’m sure candidates preparing for GMAT 2009 will find tests on GMAT Quantitative Problems, GMAT verbal and data sufficiency very useful.

Can you please also give link for GMAT 2009 Test dates?

If you get score between 190-200 then I believe ur rank should be between 18k-20k. You may get a chance in NIT Trichy but may be not good branch. (But still its a good option)

See with your expected rank I can suggest you follwoing:

1> If you do get a chance to join any of the NITs then prefer branch over college. You may go for avergae NIT if you get computer science, electronics….remember getting in to good branch will certainly help you at your rank. You should consider following branches: a> electronics b> computer science c> mechanical d> biotech e> chemical f> metallurgy

2> If you don’t have option for NITs then see if you can get in to BITs Pilani if yes then I would strongly recommend you can go for it.

3> If NITs and BITs out of question then go for Manipal (but rem fees of manipal college would be very high so need to see if you can afford it. If you can’t go for VIT with good branch like CSE or Electronics and communications.

I hope above info was useful…do let me know if you still have any concern. I will try to answer them. All the best for counseling.

    Hi Kamal,

For 150 marks you can a get an All India Rank close to 50,000 and with this rank there is no chance to get into NIT Warnagal (Comp Science) as the closing rank for your category in 2007 for computer science stream in NIT warangal is 13,300.

  7. From the discussion For 150 marks what will be AIEEE 2009 rank?

    Mon, 18 May 2009 06:39:11 -0000

    Hi Alka,
for 150 marks you can expect a rank in the range of 45,000-50,000. Last year there were approximately 800 students from Tamil Nadu in the rank range of 10-50,000. Expecting more or less the same this year, you can expect a local rank close to 1000. For AIEEE cut-offs please go through the lesson AIEEE 2009 Cut-Offs

  10. From the discussion AIEEE 5000 Rank. Is there a scope for REC?

    Mon, 18 May 2009 06:28:43 -0000

Hi Neha Sharma, for the year 2007 students from AP within the rank range of 5700-6500 got into chemical engineering stream of REC calicut. So you have a very good chance of getting into REC Calicut. Why REC Calicut and not REC Warangal which is more reputed and also in your state. Of course for this you have to keep your fingers crossed as the rank range is 3700-5600 for the year 2007.

  11. From the discussion AIEEE 2009-Rank 4000...How many students attend the counseling?

    Mon, 18 May 2009 06:27:03 -0000

Hi Ravi, nice to hear that you are confident enough of securing 4000 All India Rank. For 2008 counseling approximately 5 students are called for each seat available i.e. the ratio is 5:1. Even though the number of seats increased this year this ratio remains more or less the same.

  12. From the discussion AIEEE 2009-Rank 15000..Is there a chance for NIT Suratkal?

    Sat, 16 May 2009 11:30:25 -0000

    Hi,

For NIT Suratkal, students from Delhi with rank in the range 19000-20000 got computer science seat in the year 2007 and in 2008 also almost the same trend continued. So I think you have a very good chance of getting into your dream college.

Sir I heard from a site(www.namanb.com) that this year due to provision for higher options there less chance for students with this range of ranks to get into decent NITs with this branch.

  13. From the discussion AIEEE 2009 Counseling Procedure in NITs

    Sat, 16 May 2009 11:26:41 -0000

The seats in the NITs shall be filled up with following criteria:

    (i) 50% of the seats in an NIT shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed +2 examination from the State in which the NIT is situated. For example, in NIT Warangal 50% seats shall be filled by the eligible candidates who have passed their +2 examination from Tripura.

(ii) Admission in NITs for rest 50% seats would be on All India Merit basis. For these seats candidates would be admitted from amongst All India rank holders in AIEEE.

  14. From the discussion which is better dual degree from bits or droop for iit-jee

    Thu, 14 May 2009 10:00:12 -0000

As Ankita said, no doubt dual degree is good. Conventionally, many people do have a perception that B.tech is better than Dual degree as latter takes one extra year for degree completion. But truth is this one extra year comes handy at the end bcoz dual degree students get sufficient time to build on his/her resume, can be involved in extra-curricular activities, extra summer internships etc which is usually preferred by recruiting companies.

Companies usually pay higher package to dual degree students than to B.tech students. So no doubt dual degree is good.

@jee: Who knows whats gonna happen next year. May be JEE becomes online, may be the pattern of exam changes entirely as a result you would be at par with freshers…..

So my suggestion would be go for Dual Degree course.

    Mon, 11 May 2009 06:33:14 -0000

Hi Taru, its not easy to take a drop and sit at home n prepare for any of the competitive examinations. There is so much of peer pressure that it becomes really difficult to stay focused. Most importantly I feel one shouldn’t restrict their options just to IIT & NITs. There are so many other good colleges either in India or Abroad. Obviously, the abroad ones have additional advantage that they give you necessary exposure which is the need of the hour due to rising competitive scenario.

    Hope this helps.

    Fri, 08 May 2009 09:59:02 -0000

    Hi Shivam,

Last year level of BITSAT was somewhere between IIT and AIEEE. In 2009, as you must be knowing that, AIEEE had lots of concept related questions, so I would assume the level of BITSAT would be same as AIEEE this year.

Please note BITSAT Mathematics is usually tougher than AIEEE. You will find English and logical reasoning section to be trivial if you just practice few BITSAT sample papers.
