  1. From the discussion Problem reordering the lessons in a course

    Sun, 19 Jul 2009 11:20:48 -0000

Looking further into this problem of moving to lessons in a course smoothly and without them getting jumbled, I think that if there were directional arrows ( < > ) to take you to the next l( > ) or back to the previous ( < ) lesson or page as well as tests (quizzes), this would possibly eliminate these problems.

To Learnhub Support: Is it possible to add these directionals for Previous and Next to help with navigation when there is a course with several lessons and tests (quizzes)?

      Hello,

This sounds like a very useful feature. I’d like to investigate this with our Dev team. I will get back to you as soon as I get more info!

I agree…”I think this has to do with approaching challenges as opportunities instead of ‘problems to solve.’ This is a great way to look at coaching – it is certainly opportunities for the coach as well as the person being coached.

U.S. News & World Report magazine provides a list of the best colleges and university in the U.S.A on a yearly basis. Here is the link to their most recent report.

I have also had the problems you described. Recently, I was told that students are not able to access the tests in the course. I am not sure what the solutions are. I will also follow for a response.

I think that if you contact an accredited university in the U.S. – for example University of Florida – that offers degree programs in Physiotherapy, they may have online courses that you can take while living in other countries.

  6. From the question credit transfer confusion!!

    Sun, 19 Jul 2009 03:34:14 -0000

The best way to find out if your credits from Computer Science will transfer is to contact the university of your choice in the U.S. and ask them. A lot will depend on the major – what are the core course requirements of the university and what other courses are accepted toward your degree. Good luck.

I tried a few times to work with Moodle, but did not find it friendly to understand how to create courses. I have since used aTutor and really like it and found a good forum for support.

  8. From the discussion What do we want to use this community for?

    Mon, 13 Jul 2009 02:27:58 -0000

I recently started life coaching as a natural transition from helping others informally over years to now making it formal by offering life coaching to others. At this time, I am specifically targeting the age group transitioning to retirement because it can be such a frightening time – especially as we live so much longer and need to fill our time in meaningful and fulfilling ways. Any suggestions on the best ways to build a clientele?

  9. From the discussion How to Engage Learners

    Mon, 27 Apr 2009 23:49:57 -0000

I have always thought that the packaging of what is being taught is what keeps students engaged in learning. In high school, I had a history teacher who made the history lessons so colorful with the language she used to teach that I did not want to miss any of the stories that were being told. Her teaching made quite an impact on me – especially when I compare to other boring – simply reading out of the text book lectures. Capturing the imagination of the audience is very important to engage students.

  10. From the lesson Interesting Lessons

    Mon, 27 Apr 2009 23:37:14 -0000

While some people may prefer to learn the traditional way in the classroom – I think it is really “mind over matter” where it is simply following tradition by prefering to learn only in the classroom. It has become so convenient for students, especially those with children, to get home from work and to get onto the computer to retrieve lessons, take tests, and earn certifications and degrees. The expense and time to get to and from classrooms, especially in bad weather, are a couple factors that drive students to consider the alternative of online learning.

Using the concept of reinforcement to retain information learned has been the best way for me to remember anything I have learned – especially in preparatioin for exams. I agree with both Kathy and Lucyinthesky.

    Mon, 27 Apr 2009 23:09:50 -0000

I agree with your point that the need for planning in small businesses ”...is minor because the decision is centralized in few people.” However, they can still be left out in the “cold” if there was no pre-planning in regards to risk management – as there may not be anything to take them over the bad period of a disastrous event if there was no insurance coverage, etc.

  13. From the discussion Impact of the changing scenario in the US

    Sun, 10 Aug 2008 04:51:01 -0000

Here in the U.S., we are currently in a recession. Unemployment is up and workers are continuing to be laid off. It appears that the soaring price of oil and price of gas has a lot to do with the earnings of individuals and companies – which trigger problems in the economy. However, I do not think that this will change the trend of outsourcing where companies seek out lower costs of producing goods and services. Although it will be interesting to see how the balancing act works out after we elect a new president.

Can I upload a course created in Adobe Captivate 3 course to Learnhub presentation? I know that Powerpoint presentations can be imported into Learnhub presentation – but wonder if this can also be done with a course created in Adobe Captivate 3.

Unfortunately there is no easy way we can convert an Adobe Captivate course to our system. In order to create content for your course you have to create individual lessons and evaluations and publish them to your course. From there you can organize them within your course.

    Wed, 06 Aug 2008 13:11:53 -0000

If one is offering courses for a fee – but also willing to answer questions in order to share additional knowledge in Discussion Forums, etc. to learners and others – that is a “the perfect mix of ‘free’ and ‘fee’.”

I couldn’t agree more, Ellen!!! You’ve pointed out a critical component of teaching for a LIVING, not just a paycheck!

What do others think about this? And how are you managing the “free” part of your offerings, so that you don’t go broke?

  17. From the lesson Help: Lessons

    Sun, 27 Jul 2008 15:08:06 -0000

If you create a lesson or lessons in Learnhub, you can upload the 40 page document as a pdf file as an attachment to the lesson.

If the lesson is published as a “privately” as part of the course/lesson, you will need to send an invitation on the Edit Course page to each of the persons who will be participating; this will give each of them access to the lesson/course and the 40-page attachment.

I don’t know about live chat in Learnhub – maybe someone else can provide an answer to that question.

  18. From the discussion Start your Moodle

    Sun, 27 Jul 2008 11:51:24 -0000

It is certainly heart-warming to see Moodle experts in Learnhub. A couple years ago, I registered and tried to create courses using Moodle – but I had many questions and ended up leaving Moodle because I was frustrated and could not figure out how to effectively create courses. There appeared to be the need to have a lot of plug-ins. The experts seemed to be doing well – but I was certainly struggling.

Now, I found atutor to be easier to work with – but overall, I prefer Learnhub.

  19. From the lesson Lesson 1 - Visualising Your Future Self

    Sun, 27 Jul 2008 11:42:46 -0000

I enjoyed this lesson and reflected on the questions you posed. A few years ago, I visualized where I would like to be doing later in life – and decided teaching others, helping others, and learning are the things that I am passionate about. I looked for ways outside of my primary career to learn and develop in eLearning management. My vision is to make a difference in the business world for both employers and employees by providing training / courses that will improve the work environment.
