  1. From the trivia question GMAT- Quantitative Section Q#34: The Boring Flower Store sells only white, red and pink flowers. 2/3 of flowers sold today were white, and there were 4 times as many red flowers than pink. If P is the number of pink flowers sold, what's the number of white flowers sold in terms of P?

    Since there are total 0f

    2/3 white + p pink + 4p red

    from above 1/3 = p+ 4p = 5p

    then 2/3 = 2 * 5p = 10p

  2. From the trivia question 210. Critical Reasoning:
    My office has a very limited number of meeting rooms.

    Which of these can be a result of the above?

    The catch here is the word result . So Only option E is the result of the above said problem.

  3. From the trivia question GMAT- Quantitative Section Q#46: I'm rolling 6 dice. What's the probability that I get at least 2 but no more than 5 even numbers?

    Thu, 02 Jul 2009 11:10:59 -0000

    Kanjin it is

    possibility of 0 even number = (1/2) ^ 6 = 1 / 64 Possibility of 6 even number = (1/2) ^ 6 = 1 / 64 Possibility of 1 even number = (1/2) ^ 6 * 6 = 6 / 64 Adding all these = 8 / 64

  4. From the trivia question GMAT- Quantitative Section Q#112: My rectangular prism has a volume of 60 cubed units. If I double each of the dimensions of my prism, what will be its new volume?

    Tue, 30 Jun 2009 10:12:25 -0000

    VOLUME = l * b * h So if i double each of the dimensions i will get volume = 2l * 2b * 2h = 8(l * b * h) so i will get 8 * 60 = 480

  5. From the trivia question GMAT- Quantitative Section Q#151: Alex, Becky and Carl are all trying to climb a wall. Their respective probabilities of reaching the top are 1/2, 3/5 and 2/3. What's the probability that Alex and Becky but not Carl reach the top of the wall?

    Tue, 23 Jun 2009 11:43:23 -0000

    Alex probability : 1/2 becky probability :3/5 Carl probability : 2/3 Alex and becky togather climbing : 1/2*3/5 = 3/10 Carl not climbing : 1-2/3 = 1/3 [Remember if p is the probability then 1-P is the probability that it will not happen]

    Hence 3/10 *1/3 = 1/10
